Chapter 15: too little, too late

// Erica

"How's your brother doing?" AJ asked, sitting down with me with her coffee.

"The doctors said that he has a severe concussion." I explained, "He's going to be staying in the hospital for a few weeks. But he can't wrestle for at least a month or a month and a half."

"That sucks." Paige added, "Is he allowed any visitors? Because I feel like visiting today."

"Only family members for now. Probably in a few more days they'll allow you guys to visit." I mumbled.

Everything was silent for a few moments in the small coffee shop that we were in. I couldn't sleep at all last night because of what happened at RAW. I was just too worried about Dean in the hospital. And I was also extremely angry at Seth. Why would he do that? Did he not think about the consequences? Did he even think about how I would feel about that?

"Have you talked to Seth at all?" Paige asked.

I shook my head, "No. I feel like I don't ever want to talk to him."

"So you're going to break up with Seth?" AJ questioned.

I bit down on my bottom lip, "I don't know."

"If you're listening to your heart, don't." Paige advised, "I've learned that the heart screws everything up."

"Paige that isn't always true." AJ said.

"Well it is for me." Paige stated, "My heart screws everything up when it comes to relationships."

"Well maybe because your heart is black and dark." I said and attempted to grin.

"Just like your soul." AJ added.

Paige smiled, "I'm already starting to tear up. You guys know me so well."

AJ and Paige laughed and I just sat there with a small smile. I didn't feel like laughing today. I had too much on my mind. My smile then faded away when a certain somebody came walking into the small café.

I just got lost in his familiar brown eyes as he looked at our group with a sexy smirk. His luscious dark hair was still the same as well as his small amount of stubble on his face.

"Ooh la la." Paige swooned. "Who's that piece of hunk?"

"He's good looking." AJ agreed. "Don't you think Erica?"

I stayed silent and kept staring at the man. Paige and AJ turned to look at me with questionable expressions.

"Hey, Pumpkin." Paige waved her hand in my face. "Are you okay?"

"Erica Ambrose." The man said as he made his way toward us.

"You know him?" AJ asked me silently.

All I could do was nod my head and keep staring at the man. He smiled and engulfed me in a big hug. I kept my hands at my sides and looked at him with a horrified face.

I finally found my voice to speak, "W–W–What are you doing here?"

"I got a new job as a athletic trainer." He smiled, "I have to travel a lot apparently. What are you doing here? You look great!"

"U–Um..." I stuttered.

The man laughed, "You never changed. I can't believe you still stutter when you see me. I remember you saying you do that because I 'always take your breath away.'"

He looked at Paige and AJ, "Who are your friends?"

Paige stood up and extended her hand to him, "I'm Paige—"
