Third Person's POV:

Mom slowly took back her hands from (Y/N)'s hands and stood up without saying a word to her. She faced her back and stayed silent for a moment. She sighed. "You're just like Emma. Refusing to give up. I wanted you two not to suffer no more by you and Emma to be a Mom or sister but I see that won't happen." She turned to look down at (Y/N) with a smile.

"You're just going to die in the end, (Y/N). Along with the others."

"I'm not going to betray my family, especially Ray! My siblings trust me to not become a Mom or sister as you said! I won't let Ray be in despair! Not him, not Emma! Not my siblings that truly know about this place!"

"Ray, huh? After he has betrayed you, you still forgive him, do you? After he had worked for me, you still forgive him?~"

"I do! I forgive him after all he had done! He promised me he wouldn't do that again! So, I trust him!" (Y/N) stubbornly said.

"Of course, you do. That's who you are.~" Mom smiled sweetly and patted her head, taking (Y/N) by surprise. "...Do you enjoy working for those creatures, Mom? Being a Mom for this farm?" (Y/N) looked at her eyes wanting an answer from Mom. Mom's eyes widened but softened and smiled at her. "I have some things to do, (Y/N). Good night."

Mom walked away and left the infirmary leaving (Y/N)'s question unanswered. "I can't give up, not now." (Y/N)'s eyebrows furrowed in anger while tightening her fists. She suddenly stood up to go grab a glass of water from the counter but stopped when she felt something fall from her pocket skirt. She turned back to see what she had dropped.

Her eyes softened when she realized what it was. She picked it up from the floor and eyed it while holding it between her fingers. "You can't give up either, Ray." (Y/N) talked while she held the small picture she and Ray had taken together. Her tears began to fall out of the corner of her eyes.

"Ray..."

Flashback: 1 year ago

"(Y/N), I know you're here!" Ray yelled out loud. He had agreed to play with (Y/N) since she kept insisting on him. Now, they are playing for at least two hours. It was Ray's turn to find her through the large forest. (Y/N) was hiding above the trees containing her laughter because Ray was near to find her. He was below her on the ground.

Ray stood there for a moment and put his hands in his pockets. "Hmm? Where could she be? I could've sworn I saw her around here." Ray said out loud. Ray ran in the other direction. "Silly Ray." (Y/N) giggled. She jumped down from the tree and brushed off the dust and dirt from her skirt. "Now, I should follow Ray behind and hide somewhere else."

"Too late for that." A familiar voice was heard behind her, making her squeal in fear. (Y/N) looked behind her to see Ray standing there with his hands in his pockets. Ray chuckled at her reaction. "Found you, Koala." "B-But, how!? I just saw you run in the other direction!" (Y/N) claimed.

"Baka, I did but I came back silently to make sure if you really weren't here and I hid through the bushes until you appeared. You should have waited up there for a few more minutes." Ray explained with his usual bored tone.

"Hmph! I'm tired! Let's go!" (Y/N) pouted and turned away from Ray and walked away making her way to the house. She was upset that she lost so she didn't want to play again.

"Aww.~ Did the little Koala give up that easily? What a shame. I thought she was better than that. Or was she mad because she lost?~" Ray teased with a smirk on his face. (Y/N) stopped in her tracks and turned to look at Ray with a 'What!?" look.
