My question hangs in the air.
"Well?"
"Very funny. That won't get you out of this." The one with green hair says. I stare at them, utterly lost.
"Out of what?"
Their eyebrows raise in shock.
"Oh shit she really doesn't remember." The one with half orange hair says quietly.
"What don't I remember?!" I yelp. The short one with blue hair sighs. "What's your name?"
"It's..."
My mind goes blank.
The harder I think about it the more I realize that I can't remember anything.
My name, my life... it's all just....
Blank.

"Who am I?" I ask quietly. I'm speaking to myself more than anyone else.
The green haired one helps me up.
"I'll take her back to the base. This oughta be fun to explain to the L.O."
That term sounds so familiar.
L.O.
Still, nothing comes to mind.
The green one grabs me by the forearm, pulling me through the winding caves. I try not to stumble, but she's walking fast.
"Hey... what can I call you?" I ask, narrowly avoiding a rock.
The green haired one stops.
"Uh..." she bites her lip. "DJ. You can call me DJ."

DJ brought me to a huge building (she called it "base", someone else called it "apartments") and led me inside.
There was one man near the front who looked like he had seen a ghost.
As did the woman with him.
Odd.
Then again a lot of people looked terrified.
DJ is pretty scary though, so I don't blame them.
She leads me into a room.
There's only a chair and a table.
"What...?"
I hear the door slam shut and the lock click.
"DJ?!" I ask, alarmed. "I'll be back. I'm locking you in here for your own safety, alright?"
I glance around the small room, unsure.
I think I can trust her.
"Alright."
I hear her footsteps recede. I look around the room once more.
It's tiny.
I sit down, not seeing anything better to do. I drum my fingers on my thighs.
This is as boring as it is confusing. "Why am I even here?" My voice echoes around the empty room. I stare at my reflection on the shiny metal table.
Damn my hair is red.
I trace the three scars over my right eye.
I feel a dull ache from my socket.
And then the pain gets worse, to the point where I pull my bangs over my eye like a curtain.
"Light hurts..." I mumble to myself. What feels like a fog washes over me.
And in that fog, a hazy light.
A memory.
A memory as clear as day.

A woman is smiling at me. She has brown skin and long curly blue hair. She pats me on the head, chuckling. "Come one now, mel. I'll make you your favorite."

Then it just... stops.
"Mel.... Is that my name?"
But it doesn't sound right. No...
Mel is a word.
It means Honey in... some language...
"Scio quid?" I smack my hand over my mouth.
"impar..." I shake my head. "Odd. This is odd."
I hear the door creak open.
A faintly familiar face stares at me.
"You..."

"Me?" I ask, suddenly nervous. The person in front of me is tall, with bright red hair and honey gold eyes. They have a scruffy goatee, with dark circles under their eyes and scars tracing his face.
"Yes you, dammit. What are you doing here?" He snarls. I shrink back.
"I don't know? DJ just brought me in here and said she'd be back...."
The man raises an eyebrow. "You expect me to believe that? What are you really doing here?" "I don't know, ok?! I don't even know who I am, for deities sake!"
His face pales. "What?" "I don't know who I am. Or who you are, in fact!" I yell, my face twisting with unease.
The man stares at me in shock.
"Oh shit... I gotta go."
He rushes back out of the door, slamming and locking it behind him.
I groan in frustration.
"What is going on?" I stare at my reflection on the table again.
Why
Doesn't
Anything
Make
SENSE????

I slam my fist into the table. A shock of pain dances through my knuckles. But I can't really pay attention to that.
I stare at the dent I left.
"Well that's new.... I think."
"Anai? I'm back... with company." I, in a panic, scramble in front of the table as a feeble attempt to hide the dent.
"What did you do?" DJ sighs, staring at me. "What?" "You have a guilty look on your face." She mumbles something under her breath. "Huh?" "Nothing." DJ shoves me aside.
"Jesus." "I told you! She's-" "Hade, do us a favor and shut up." The blue haired one says.
The orange one called Hade groans, burying their head in their hands.
"Ok. I'm not gonna sugar coat anything. This is an interrogation. Sit down." I stare down at the blue one and then slowly sit back down the the metal chair. "Good. Now, do you remember anything?"
For a moment, I consider saying no. Though the look on the Blue ones face advises me not to.
"One thing. A woman. She was offering to make me something I think. It's.... Fuzzy."
"What did she look like?"
"Brown skin, dark blue hair. It was long. And really curly."
The blue one looks over at DJ and Hade.
"Sound familiar?" DJ nods solemnly. Hade looks at me with suspicion.
"Anything else?" They ask.
"No. Can someone tell me what's going on? Or at the very least my name? And who was that guy who came in here earlier?"
DJ looks at me in alarm.
"What guy?"
"Red hair. Gold eyes. A scruffy goatee that looked like he was still growing it-"
"Elian..." DJ huffs, storming out.
I glance rapidly between Hade and the blue one.
Blue is the one that caves.
"Your name is Anai. That's all we can tell you for now. I'll take you up to a room."
