Snow. There is so much snow. DJ wasn't used to it.
She was from texas, after all.
The forest is all too quiet as she looks around, looking unsurprised by her situation and determined to get out of it as quickly as she could. It was cold, so so cold.
As she pulls herself up, there's a quiet noise, the sound of a twig snapping., that draws DJ's attention over to the shadows. Out steps a familiar silhouette, the same one she's seen in the mirror all her life. But it's a shadow, a negative space where light will not go. A humanoid that is entirely void, save for its unsettlingly large smile.
"Hello DJ."
"Fuckin hell..."
The shadow steps forward, grabbing and crushing a rock as it does so.
"If you wish to live, I would run."
DJ does something she rarely does.
She listens.
She runs into the woods, leaving a thin trail of blood behind. She was so utterly alone, save for a shadow that was going to try and kill her.
Tears stream down her cheeks, not for herself but for Lane. For Natalie. For all of her friends that would have to be without now. Worst of all, she had broken her promise to Lane. She had thrown herself head first into danger again.
God, what had she done?
Would she ever see her best friend again?
Would she ever see her darling again?
Or would she die, alone and cold, in this hell hole of a forest, never being able to see her beautiful Lane's face again?
The thought crushed her, but it also fueled her. She wouldn't let that happen. She would fight, and kick, and scream, and she would not give up. So she cries as she runs, merely hoping she'll live to see tomorrow.
