Lyle was sitting alone in his room again, a commonplace for him to try to hide away. Maybe he should text Autumn again? Wasn't there supposed to be a party tonight or something like that?
"Are you still gonna come pick me up for a party?"
Knowing Autumn it was going to take him a while to respond, and he was probably busy picking up Andy. Keia and Robin were still in the hospital, he thought, so he probably wasn't going to bring them? Maybe it was better off that they didn't come. Robin was a bit chaotic and Keia wasn't really the kind of person to go to parties.
Neither are you.
Did he even want to go? If Autumn wasn't the one who was taking him he wouldn't go at all.
BZZT!
"Autumn: no"
Lyle stared at his phone for a second, this wasn't the same expressive Autumn he knew.
"Did something happen?"
Lyle stared at his phone for a while, but Autumn didn't seem to have a response lined up. Did it have something to do with what happened at school? The lockdown shook a lot of people, but Autumn was the only person who got sent home afterward. Did something else happen? Keia and Robin got hurt, but he didn't think that was enough to make Autumn react like this?
BZZT!
"Autumn: I need to talk to somebody right now, call me?"
Lyle felt his heart pounding in his chest, this was his chance to be a shoulder to lean on!
"Autumn! Are you ok..?" Lyle asks as soon as Autumn picked up.
"No.." Autumn sniffles back.
"Well, talk to me about it?" Lyle says with a smile.
And with that, they faded into the night.
