Chapter 12

Spencer

The rest of the day rolled by pretty quickly.

It went from a sad and confused day to one of my happiest school days in a while.

I really wasn't expecting to fall for Toby. And I know it's quick but it's different.

And I can't help what I feel. I really do like him and there's no reason to hide it.

As I've learned this year, life's too short so I'm happy I told him and I'm truly happy he feels the same.

"Hey there" Toby smirks at me when I approach my locker

"Hey there" I smile back as he pulls me into a hug.

We haven't had any alone time after the kiss to talk about how we are gonna move on or what this means for us. If there is an us.

"Any plans today?" He asks

I shake my head "Alexis is hanging with her boyfriend, Alison has her parents anniversary dinner, Aria and Mona have a project to work on and Hanna and Emily are going shopping. So no nothing for me. Unless Jenna wants to hang after her piano class, what about you?"

He shakes his head "nothing for me either"

"Do you want to hang at my place? My moms out of town until Sunday so I promise you won't run into her"

"You sure? And it's not like I wanna sneak around your mom I just know she hates me"

"She doesn't hate you, she hates the fact that I'm not handling this the way she wants me too and also she loves my ex and hated that I broke up with him. I guess I'm her mind he's better for me and she's not realizing that what's best for me might not be her wishes.l

"I get that I do she scares me though"

"If you think she's scary you should meet my dad" I say and his eyes widen "relax he's out of town as well. In fact I personally don't remember the last time I've seen him in person since I've been diagnosed."

"Really " he asks and I nod

"He's been avoiding me. My father isn't big on dealing with emotions plus normally he'd use me to help negotiate deals and now I can't do stuff I used to so I'm pretty sure he sees me as useless"

"Don't say that!" He gasps

I chuckle "oh don't worry, out of the four of us I'm his third least favourite. Jason takes his role as hated child. Melissa takes the runner as favourite child"

"You guys rank yourselves?"

"No, he ranks us by how he treats us and we just accept it."

"Why does he hate Jason?"

"It's complicated, I don't feel like getting into the details in the middle of the school hallway, but if you want to know more we can hang out"

He lets out a breath "okay fine but if your mother shows up I may die from fright " he says and I laugh

"Relax drama queen. I'll protect you"

"Right right" he chuckles "I'll go get my stuff and meet you at my truck okay?" He says

"Sounds good. See you in a few" I tell him as I kiss his cheek

He smiles and walks off to his locker.

I turn to mine and begin unlocking it.

"Hey" I say as I approach Spencer, now that Toby's finally gone
