Three days later
Bucky seen Joelle walk by him and his group friends as she came down the hall. When his friends left he walked over to Joelle.
"Joelle.." he said
When she flipped her blonde hair as she turned around. "Apples..sweet apples." He whispered
"What?" Joelle said
"Nothing, um you said you wanted to talk to me this morning. I got your sticky note." He said
"Oh right, um I've cleared this with Ms Hill. I wanted to add more tutoring sessions like on the weekends." She said
"Oh..." he said
"Like I can come to your house and we can study for a few hours." She said
"Joelle, I um Im glad you want to help me. But coming to my house is out of the question." He said
"Oh..okay. I was just trying to help that's all Bucky." She said as she closed her locker.
"Joelle.." he said as she walked off.
Later on that afternoon Bucky came into the library and sat beside her. She had already laid out what all he had to do for their tutoring session.
"Joelle..I didn't mean to offend you earlier today. I just don't like people being at my house." He said
"It's whatever..I get it I'm a nerd not popular." She said in a low tone.
"Joelle..it's not that. I really don't like people being at my house. I don't even let my girlfriend come over." He said
"I'm not stupid Bucky, the popular kids do go out to your house. I've heard the whispers about a party. So don't lie to me. I just wanted to help you." She said
He looked down as he went back to his work. She was quiet the rest of the session when they were done. She put everything back in his tutoring folder.
"Tomorrow I'll let Ms Hill know to set you up with Kelsey Lennox or Dave Brown they are both from your crowd." She said
"Joelle wait no. Please don't do that." He said
She wouldn't look at him, he lifted her chin. "I didn't mean to hurt your feelings I know you are just trying to help. But please don't switch tutors. I need to get back on the field football is everything to me. I have to play in order to get better to be perfect. My dream my goal is to make it into the NFL one day and say goodbye to this small town. So please Joelle don't give up on me and I guess you can come to my house on the weekends." He said
"Life isn't all about football Bucky. There is more to life then a sport.." she said
"Football is all I have." He said
"And what are you going to do when football is no longer a option." She said
"Football will always be there Joelle. It hasn't let me down once or turned it's back on me." He said
She just shook her head. "Whatever one day you'll see that I was right." She said as she started to walk off.
He caught up to her, "So do you prefer Elle? Or is there another nickname." He said
"Joey..my friends call me Joey." She said
"Joey..here is my number.." he said as he put both his cellphone and landline in her phone.
"Thanks.." she said
"Welcome.." he said as he saw his dad's truck as she went to her sister's car.
