April 18th
Three months before the wedding
"Hey baby. I have to run. Coach needs to see me." He said as he kissed her.
"Okay? Why? We graduate next month." She said
"I don't know. He didn't say in the voicemail." He said as he grabbed his keys by the door and left.
Joey began to get a sick feeling that something bad was about to happen as she sat her coffee cup down. She looked at her engagement ring before she started to twirl it." She said
She left for class as she tried to brush the feeling off. Meanwhile at Bucky's meeting with coach
"You wanted to see me?" He said but he realized other men in the room.
"Oh. I'll wait till you are done." He added
"Barnes. These men are here for you. They are from the NFL." Coach Burns said
"The NFL? Oh my god.." he said as he shut the door as he came in.
"The Jets want you to come play for them as their QB. I brought in Doug Matthews he's a sports agent since your coach said you didn't have one." Mr Lincoln Thomas said
"Nice to meet you." Bucky said
They began to discuss all the details of the contract including salary and benefits. By the end of the conversation. Bucky's head was back in the clouds and spinning.
"I understand that you have a fiancé if you need to discuss this with her. We will give you a few days." Mr Thomas said
"Oh no that's not necessary. She knows how much football means to me and she knows this has been a dream of mine." He said as he took the pen and signed his name.
The three gentlemen looked each other as Mr Thomas swallowed hard.
"All done. When do I need to be in NY?" He said
"It's best that you get moved in early so you can get use to living in NY and knowing your way around." Mr Thomas said
"And the draft is in nine days so be there for that as well." Mr Burns said
"Of course." He said
"That's all we needed Mr Barnes." His college coach said and Bucky left.
He didn't tell anyone till he got done with classes. When he got home he found Joey making dinner.
"Joey! Guess what baby! Guess what happened today with coach!" He said
"I don't know.." she said
He turned her around. "We are moving to NY! I'm being drafted into the NFL to play for the Jets! They want me to be their QB!" He said excitedly
"Bucky.." she said
"Isn't this exciting! I'm getting my dream baby!" He said
Joey looked down and walked away.
"Joey..baby. You don't look happy for me." He said as he walked to her room.
"Joey talk to me.." he said as she put her back to him.
He laid beside. "Baby..please say something anything.." he said
She laid there in silence as silent tears fell. Now she knew why she had a sick feeling that something was wrong. For the next several weeks she was quiet, in a fog and not wanting anything to do with him.

A week before college graduation he came into the apartment.
"We need to book a flight to NY so we can get our place set up Joey. We can still get married in GA and fly back. Joey! Talk to me!" He said as she walked off.
He sighed as he looked down.
Bucky went to NY alone that weekend and found an apartment. While he was there meeting with the other players and touring the stadium. Bucky got a text from Steve
"Call me ASAP!"
Joey was back in Brunswick GA where she stayed with her parents. She made phone calls to cancel the wedding. She tossed her wedding notebook in the kitchen trash can at her parents place. Elaine got it back out after she left and put it in her office. When she got back to Alabama she packed up her stuff.
She knocked on Natasha's door.
"Hey Joey..everything okay? You don't look good.." Natasha said
"Can I stay here?" She said as she started to cry.
"Oh Joey..yes you can stay here honey.." Nat said as she hugged her.
Joey broke even harder.
Nat helped her get her stuff into her place and into the extra bedroom she had. When Bucky got back to his hotel.
He called Steve.
"Steve what's going on?" He said
"Dude what the hell did you do?" Steve said
"I don't know what you are talking about?" Bucky said
"Joey called off the wedding..we all got messages from the tux place that the tuxes had been cancelled by the bride." Steve said
"What?!" He said
"Yeah I called your mom she said that Elaine called her and told her. Natasha said it's true." Steve said
"I'll be home soon. I'll talk to her she hasn't been herself." Bucky said as he began to pack his bag and head to the airport.
When Bucky landed back in Alabama he went straight home.
"Joey!" He said as he went into her room to find it empty.
"No. No no." He said as he cried as he fumbled for his phone.
He called her repeatedly sent messages. All went unanswered he called Natasha. She let him know that she was safe at her place asleep. That's all she's done is cry and sleep.
