(I know Korra and Asami get the amount of love they deserve from the Avatar fandom, but I still think they are an underrated ship. I wrote this a LONG time ago and I'm still proud of it. I have no warnings, just Korra punching some guys with bloody noses. I think that Mako and Bolin being supportive friends is slept on, so I'm glad I added them in there.

If you love LGBTQ+ representation and beach trips, this is probably the one shot for you. :3)

You're The One That I Want

"Are you sure you two are going to be okay by yourselves?" Bolin Huang asked awkwardly, sitting shotgun in his brother's 2005 Jeep. "You two keep forgetting that we can take care of ourselves, we're badass women." Korra Suoh scoffed playfully. "Well, I have to drop Bolin off at Opal's and Wu is hellbent on taking me to the spa again," Bolin's older brother, Mako, complained. "I think you like him." Korra teasingly butted in.

"Would you look at the time! Mako, I'm gonna be late for movie night with Opal-" Bolin whimpered. "Not on my watch." His older brother remarked boldly. He glanced at the two ladies with a cheery smile curving onto his lips. The Jeep's engine roared to life as he lowered the car window. "I swear if you have to bail her out of jail again, Asami..." The driver chuckled. "You sound like my dad, Mako! Stop it!" Korra whined in embarrassment. "Makoooo!!" Bolin called from the backseat with a pout. "Right. You two be safe now. Call one of us if you need anything." Mako grinned at the two girlfriends before driving off.

"They are hilarious." Asami Sato mused as she held her girlfriend's hand. "Well, I'm still annoyed that Mako assumes that I can't go anywhere without going to jail." Korra groaned irritably. "I'd still bail you out until I was broke, sweetie." Her girlfriend crooned reassuringly, flustering Korra with her words. "If it helps, I was a little agitated when you thought I was prissy, but it didn't bother me as much as I thought it would." The avatar's girlfriend replied soothingly as the brothers drove off.

"Is it okay if we stop talking about me going to jail now? The waves look perfect for surviving under and we gotta catch the perfect spot on the beach to put our towels on. Then we can watch the sunset-" Korra rambled zealously. Her ocean blue eyes were twinkling in the daylight. "Hey. As long as we get to do some snorkeling, I'm happy. I got these adorable little water-proof cameras..." Asami crooned cheerfully. The young entrepreneur's cheeks flushed a darker shade of red as Korra yanked her blue t-shirt off in plain sight. "I'm so stoked! She shouted, pumping a fist in the air. "Sweetie, I am undeniably grateful that you're wearing a one-piece underneath, but you're-" Asami mumbled despite her overwhelming bi panic. "Don't worry, babe! If anyone tries to bother us, I'll just punch 'em in the face. No biggie." Her girlfriend reassured her confidently. Well, that is a very Korra-like thing to do. I guess it's fine. Asami thought to herself. "Okay." She agreed hesitantly.

"Alright babe! Let's go, I found the perfect spot for our stuff not too far away from here. We should check it out!" Korra suggested, eagerly taking off her flip flops. Asami giggled at her girlfriend jogging ahead barefoot, nearing the actual beach. "Slow down, sweetie!" She giggled, taking off her own sandals and trying to catch up. "Don't drop our stuff, okay?! I'm excited too, but you need to slow down!" She yelled to her energetic girlfriend. "No promises, babe!" Korra chortled teasingly and dramatically spread their beach towel over the closest patch of sand.

"Did you have to almost get sand in my eyes, Korra?!" Asami pouted while helping Korra put up their beach umbrella. "Sorry!! I just wanna let loose and have a good time with my girlfriend. That's not a bad thing, right?" Korra apologized, feeling guilty. She pulled down her shorts and put them in their beach bag. "Don't worry about it, sweetie. But don't you think you're rushing to go into the water a bit?" Asami queried and tied her wavy black hair back into a ponytail.. "A little, but the water won't be this perfect forever." Her muscular girlfriend agreed impulsively, her naturally energetic side intensifying. "I guess you're right. My Republic City fashion magazine can wait." THe young entrepreneur agreed and put her magazine down on the beach towel.

When Korra and Asami go on a beach date together, they occasionally get glares, people who whisper homophobic comments and think they can't hear them, cat calls or other unwanted attention. This time was no different. Korra scoured the nearby area and punched anyone who made them uncomfortable. Her arm started to feel sore from punching several guys in the nose from practically swooning over Asami. She tartly rushed to her girlfriend's side and sat on the sand before screaming at feeling like her butt was burning. Asami sighed at Korra's brooding. "You didn't have to do that." She coddled her insistently. "They were being annoying, of course I had to do something." Her girlfriend huffed. "You don't have to get upset or jealous or anything of the sort. It's adorable, but Korra. I'm always yours, and that's never going to change. I just want to spend this time with you, and no one else." Asami murmured reassuringly.

"C'mon, let's go look for some-" Korra interrupted her significant other with a chaste kiss on the cheek. "I'm ready to go snorkeling whenever you are! And thanks, Asami. I needed that." She confessed bashfully, tucking a strand of her brown-black hair behind her ear. "Korra, you're the one that I want and you always will be. I love you." Asami answered lovingly. "Well I would love it if your bikini top didn't slip off again." Korra teased. Before she could get in the ocean, Asami mischievously jumped on top of her girlfriend. "That was one time!" She whined, earning a chuckle from her girlfriend. The two got up with playful laughter as they put on their snorkel gear and headed into the water. "Wait for me!" Korra pouted at Asami, who was a few steps ahead of her. "No promises." Her girlfriend yelled back jokingly.
