nevada laid in her bed and groaned as there was a knock on the door. it's been five days since the vinnie skatepark incident and she's been isolating herself from the rest of the house.
"go away please!" she yelled and turned to her side, facing the wall. the person outside her bedroom door just decided to knock harder, making her think they were gonna break her door.
after becoming more irritated, nevada got up and swung the door open. it was vinnie. of course it was vinnie. "the fuck do you want?"
vinnie looked down at the girl and pretended to be sad, "that's a mean way to talk to your bestfriend, vegas."
"i don't care." nevada said and shrugged her shoulders. "well... see you at dinner bye-" she tried slamming the door in his face, but his hand caught it before it could close.
"so what movie we watching?" vinnie asked, taking it upon himself to walk into her bedroom and take a seat on her bed.
"we're watching no movie because one, i don't want to talk to you and two, i don't want to talk to you. just fuck off, vincent."
vinnie ignored nevada's attempts to hurt his feelings and continued scrolling through the streaming apps on her tv. "hmmm... let's see what disney plus has to offer."
nevada walked over and rolled her eyes. "bro, what the fuck did i just- wait... is that onward? i've been wanting to see that shit but never got around to it."
she climbed into her bed, laying next to vinnie, and decided to push her anger aside to enjoy the movie.
twenty minutes in, vinnie thought it would be okay to wrap his arms around nevada's waist and lay his head down on her chest.
"absolutely not," she said and slapped his arms away. "this is a platonic hangout and i refuse to be a homewrecker."
vinnie groaned in annoyance and removed himself from laying on her. "you can't wreck a home when it's already destroyed," he muttered.
nevada whipped her head towards him and was at a loss for words. "you're terrible, you know that right? i can't fucking stand emily, but that doesn't mean you have the right to try and cheat on her with me."
"woah, cheating?!" vinnie said, getting just as irritated as the girl next to him, "who said shit about cheating? i was just trying to get comfortable. jesus christ, nevada. get over yourself."
"aw, you're so cute calling me nevada," she sarcastically replied, trying to hide the fact that it kind of hurt her feelings. "was that your way of trying to hurt me? you already did that last week, remember?"
vinnie couldn't handle the conversation anymore and stood up from nevada's bed, ready to go back to his room. "you know, you're saying this is a 'platonic' hangout, but your blatant jealousy tells me otherwise."
"i- what- jealousy?!" nevada repeated, and got up from her bed and stood in front of vinnie. "i'm the jealous one? jordan showed me the text messages. you know, for someone with a girlfriend, you sure were ready to beat another guy's ass because of me."
vinnie crossed his arms, trying to quickly think of something to change the subject off of him. "why don't you tell me what this is really about?" he said, walking closer to her.
"oh really?" nevada replied and took a step closer to him, "how about the fact that you took that bitch to our place?"
"mhm," vinnie nodded and smirked, "are you sure your resentment didn't start that night your confronted me in the kitchen about em?"
nevada look at vinnie up and down, her eyes shifting back and forth from his eyes to his lips. she knew exactly what he was doing and wasn't going to give him the satisfaction.
"there is no resentment."
vinnie stepped closer to nevada, their faces being just barely an inch away. nevada's heart was racing and the background noise from onward started to fade. it felt like her heartbeat was in her ears, rather than her chest.
"i think you're lying." vinnie softly replied and started to lean in. nevada panicked and found herself leaning in as well.
her bedroom door slammed open, causing the two to jump away from each other. "food for my princess- oh shit. are we interrupting something?" griffin asked with kio and noah behind him, each of them holding some type of snack.
"no!" nevada and vinnie both frantically replied in unison.
"i- he- vinnie was just leaving," nevada lied, her heart beating a thousand miles a minute. thank god the boys came in, or else she probably would've been making a big mistake.
but at the same time, she wanted to see what would've happened next between them.
vinnie awkwardly ran his fingers through the back of his hair and headed to her bedroom door, "yep. thanks for giving me back my... charger." he smiled, much less on edge than nevada was, and shut the door behind him.
"anyways..." kio spoke up and looked at nevada's tv, "holy shit, onward? i fucking love that movie."
griffin, noah, and kio all took it upon themselves to get comfortable in nevada's bed, the snacks being placed on a tray in front of them.
nevada sighed and climbed into her bed between them, resting her head on griffin's shoulder.
"okay, i'm gonna ask since nobody else wants to. what was going on before we walked in?" noah asked, causing the rest of them to laugh.
"i know right?" griffin chimed in, "you and vinnie acted like you guys got caught fucking or something."
"deadass," kio said and playfully hit nevada's arm, "but knowing them, that probably would've happened if we never busted our asses in."
"y'all so damn nosey," nevada replied and the boys nodded because they knew it was true. "nothing happened. now all of you shut up and watch the movie please before i kick everybody out."
as much as nevada wanted to be into the movie, she couldn't focus. the moment of vinnie almost kissing her kept replaying in her mind.
vinnie hacker. someone she considered her bestfriend and they almost fucking kissed. he definitely knew, right?
of course he did. their argument proved that.
nevada started to feel nauseous as she came to terms with the fact that their "platonic" relationship wasn't as platonic as she desperately wanted to believe.
