jordan and vinnie were driving around, looking for nevada, and finally pulled over in the park's parking lot. "i'll be right back." vinnie said and got out of the truckz

he felt his heartbreak as he watched her nevada cry. he hated seeing her in pain, especially because of him. he quietly took a seat on the rock next to her and just sat there.

"who the fuck-" nevada stopped as she looked next to her and saw vinnie. "oh, great. here to yell at me again and defend your precious girlfriend? leave me alone."

"nevada. it's getting dark outside and you're sitting here crying. why would i do that? just talk to me. what happened?" he tried cupping her face and she pushed his hands away.

"i don't feel like talking." she muttered and wiped the smeared mascara from underneath her eyes.

vinnie took a deep breath and placed his hands back in his lap. "okay... then we can just sit. but sooner or later you're gonna have to tell me what happened or maria will kick my ass."

nevada let out small laugh and sniffled, looking over at vinnie. his heart sank as he saw her eyes puffy and her face red from crying. "sorry about that. your mom's amazing by the way. i deadass love her."

"i know. honestly, i think she loved you more than she loves me," vinnie joked.

"i just have that effect on people."

"especially me."

nevada rolled her eyes at vinnie's response and looked at him in disbelief. "you can't be serious right now. you forreal gonna flirt with me while you're still with your voodoo ass girlfriend? okay. i can't believe after everything, you're still with her. you claim to care about me so much yet you let her shit talk me."

"so she did say something?" vinnie asked and shifted closer to nevada.

"of course she said something, you dumb fuck. i don't just storm out of the house in tears for no reason! that bitch is evil."

vinnie reached out and took nevada's hand. surprisingly, she didn't pull away this time. "what did she say?"

nevada sighed and looked away from vinnie, feeling embarrassed, "she- she told me that- that my bio parents didn't want me... so why would you?" her breath was shaky as she recalled the conversation.

vinnie started shaking his leg, unaware that he was actually doing it. "she fucking said what?" he felt a hot flash go through his body and took a deep breath because his intrusive thoughts started to kick in.

"please calm down, vin. you're making me scared you're going to hit her or something. she's not worth it, plus i already backhanded her."

"i'm sorry nevada, like i'm so fucking sorry. i'm so shitty. a shitty boyfriend and an even shittier friend. i knew you guys had your own problems, but i didn't think emily was that fucked up." vinnie stood up and held out his hand for nevada to take it.

nevada looked up at him for a moment and grabbed it. vinnie helped her get up and instantly wrapped his arms around her. she found herself crying a bit more as she felt vinnie's warmth around her.

"you're my bestfriend and i love you, okay?" vinnie whispered and kissed her forehead. nevada nodded and smiled as she looked up at him. "i love you too."

vinnie cupped her face, using his thumbs to wipe her tears, and smiled back "ready to go back home and deal with an interrogation from the boys' nosey asses?"

"unfortunately yes." nevada put her arm around vinnie's waist as they walked back to jordan's truck.

"wait... just to confirm, you said you backhanded emily?"

"yep and i don't feel bad about that shit at all."

"and you shouldn't. she had that shit coming from a mile away and i can't even say i'm surprised that it was from you. you was just doing the lord's work."
