MAY 22, 2020

"coffee babe?" camila asked and placed the mug in front of nevada who felt like she was having the worst morning of her life.

her head was pounding from last night's activities and camila's fake cheerful voice mixed with the bright kitchen light were only making things worse.

iris sat on the stool next to nevada and rested her fist underneath her chin. "rough night?" she asked and smirked, "or was vinnie too rough?"

nevada did a sarcastic laugh and pushed iris. "not funny. i don't even know if we fucked or not." she replied and took a sip of the coffee, not even putting anything in it. camila gasped and shrieked, as she always does.

"what do you mean you don't know if you guys fucked or not?!" she repeated loudly and iris reached over and hit her side. "not so damn loud, mila!"

"i don't even know. i woke up on vin's chest and he was shirtless... i look down and i'm wearing his ugly ass t-shirt. i don't even remember what happened that lead to the clothing change."

iris put down her mug and looked as if she was deep in thought. "wait, you don't think that he..."

camila's eyes widened and she almost dropped her fork. "oh nah. don't do that. do you really think that vinnie would take advantage of his wife?"

"bitch? anybody could do that! just because he seems nice, you never know somebody's intentions!"

vinnie was listening from the stairs and felt a bit offended that the girls thought he'd do something like that, but he understood where they were coming from.

he walked down and into the kitchen. the girls all went quiet and silently watched him take a sip from the mug nevada was using.

"morning sunshine." camila greeted after a few painful seconds of silence. vinnie nodded his head and stood next to nevada. she kept her head down, avoiding eye contact.

"we didn't have sex, vegas." vinnie said and they all let out a breath of relief.

"thank fucking god," nevada replied and looked up at him, the bright light still hurting her eyes. "if we didn't fuck, then how did all of this happen?" she asked and made an up and down motion to her attire.

vinnie laughed and shook his head, "well somebody decided to get drunk and throw up on their sweatshirt. i didn't want to leave you alone, so i gave you the shirt i was wearing."

"awww. you did that all for nevada? look at you going soft and shit." iris teased and elbowed his arm.

"yep. and i'd do it all over again."

nevada looked up at vinnie and grinned. their "moment" was interrupted as there was a knock on the door. "i'll get it," nevada said and dragged herself to look through the peephole first.

she couldn't believe who it was. "it's- it's mom!" she exclaimed, feeling her hangover leave her body. the two embraced while camila, iris, and vinnie came rushing over to say hi.

"my babies!" lisa exclaimed as they all suffocated her in a group hug. "i've missed you all so much." when they all let go, she took a look around and sighed. "this place is a dump, vada! let me guess... another party?"

vinnie laughed and shook his head, "mama hall, this time nevada and i are innocent. i swear."

lisa ruffled the boys hair and looked at camila, "he telling the truth mila?" camila shrugged her shoulders and laughed along with vinnie, "on his behalf, mom."

they all chuckled and lisa finally got to individually greet iris. she gasped in awe at the girl. "aw bailey, now look at you. somehow you just get more pretty each time i see you!"

iris placed her hand over her chest and pulled lisa into a hug. "thank you mama hall. it's so good to see you. we need structure around here," she jokingly said and the other three rolled their eyes.

"i know! sometimes i still can't believe i let my only children move across the country. speaking of, where's that handsome son of mine?"

"sleeping, as always. long night." camila replied as she took lisa's bags with iris and walked to place them in the extra room down the hall.

"no david?" vinnie said and lisa shook her head no. "ah, unfortunately not. you know how he gets with the planes and everything, but he wanted bryce and nevada to know how proud he is of them," she said and smiled at her daughter.

"vinnie, honey, can you give nevada and i a second?" lisa asked and vinnie nodded, awkwardly following behind the two girls to give them privacy.

nevada quietly followed behind her mom into the living room and took a seat. her heart was racing as a thousand scenarios went through her mind about what her mom wanted to tell her.

"everything good?" nevada asked and her mom sighed. "i didn't want to tell you so soon, but it's better than you hear from me..."

"mom, please stop being cryptic and just let me know. i'm legit about to shit myself."

she reached out and grabbed nevada's hand, "baby, your biological mom is out of jail."

"okay? i don't know what that got to do with me. she's been in and out of jail since i was eight. i didn't need her then, and i definitely don't need her now. you, bryce, and david have always been my family, not her."

"that's the thing... she reached out to me because she wants to see you."
