bryce and nevada awkwardly stood in the airport as they were dropping their mother off for her flight. maria pulled her kids into a hug and sighed. "don't get into too much trouble while i'm gone," she whispered.
"we'll try not to," nevada replied and tried holding back her tears. now she was going to have to deal with bruce by herself.
lisa gave her two kids a kiss on the cheek and turned around to leave for her flight. "see you later mom. i love you," bryce said.
"i love you kids too," lisa responded and the siblings watched as their mother leave to board the plane.
bryce and nevada didn't say anything to each other while leaving the airport and heading back to the house. it was annoying. nevada wished that bryce would just stop being a big baby.
the car ride was silent and painful. bryce didn't even have to decency to turn on the radio. "you're gonna have to speak to me eventually," nevada finally said.
bryce glanced at her and didn't say anything. all he did was roll his eyes and pull out of the parking lot. "i don't talk to traitors."
"you just did, though."
"whatever."
"what's your problem?"
"what's my problem?" bryce repeated and turned to look at nevada, given they were at a red light. "bro, what's your problem? lisa and david have been amazing as shit since day one and you're betraying them."
nevada furrowed her brows and reached over, smacking bryce in the back of his head. "ow!" he exclaimed and put his hand over where she hit him, "the fuck was that for?"
the light turned green and they started moving again.
"you're the selfish one in this situation!" nevada snapped, "me seeing janet isn't going to intrude on anything with us and mom and david." she leaned back in the seat and crossed her arms.
"you're supposed to be my fucking rock bryce, but now i feel completely alone."
"alone?" bryce repeated, "you have the guys. clearly you don't need me."
"stop being a fucking baby!" nevada unintentionally started to shout, "i know it's probably hard for you to believe, but this isn't about you! for fuck's sake, bryce. why can't you get over yourself and just be supportive? it's already bad enough mom can't be there, but now you won't either?"
bryce didn't say anything and pulled into the parking lot of the sway house. "we're home," he nonchalantly said and got out the car, heading into the house.
nevada just sat there and let out of a groan of frustration while hitting the dashboard. after a few seconds, she took a deep breath and opened the passenger door to also leave.
bryce ignored noah, jaden, griffin, and kio trying to talk to him. he went to his room and slammed the door.
griffin walked to nevada and wrapped his arms around her waist, resting his chin on her shoulder. "he's still being a fucking baby?"
"cmon, grif. you know you shouldn't even have to ask," kio replied and the guys started laughing and cracking jokes at each other, completely getting off topic.
it soon stopped after they all saw the irritated look on nevada's face.
"it's whatever. i don't even fucking care anymore," nevada said and moved griffin's hands from her waist. "i tried, but according to him, i'm the selfish one." she fought back her tears and headed up to her room.
nevada plopped onto her bed and turned on her comfort show: gossip girl. she barely made it through the first episode before vinnie came knocking on her door.
he took the liberty of letting himself in after knocking for the second time and positioned himself next to nevada on her bed.
vinnie looked up at her and flashed a smile, "hi," he softly said and she smiled back, completely unable to resist how cute her bestfriend was, "hey."
"talk to me, vegas." vinnie suggested and nevada just sighed as he rested his head on her shoulder, his fluffy brown hair lightly tickling her face.
nevada took a quick glance at him from the corner of her eye and then glanced back at the tv. "i really don't feel like it. let's just watch this stupid show."
vinnie lightly chuckled and sighed, "okay princess. it's a stupid show, yet you're always watching it?"
"shut up!" nevada playfully replied and smacked his shoulder, "you know what i mean."
"unfortunately," he said and rolled his eyes.
a few moments of silence passed before vinnie decided to speak up one last time, causing nevada to get slightly annoyed.
"by the way, vegas...."
"bro? can you please stop talking so i can enjoy my show?"
"the show you've seen a thousand times? i just got one more thing to say."
"it better be quick as fuck; i swear to god, vin."
"you know i'm always here for you, right?"
"i know. and i'm always here for you."
"i know," vinnie said and gave nevada a quick kiss on the forehead, making her smile like an idiot. she's glad it was dark in her room because she wouldn't be take vinnie teasing her about blushing as if they were fourteen years old.
"you're annoying," was all she managed to make out.
"it's just my love language."
