"vegas," vinnie softly said and nudged her, "you've been disconnected for the past few days. please talk to us."

"yeah. we're getting worried, especially bryce. we know you don't want to tell him what's going on, but you can always talk to us," kio added on.

nevada shrugged her shoulders and laid her head down on griffin's shoulder. "i feel selfish," she replied and sighed. "i feel like i'm betraying my family."

the guys all exchanged worried looks with each other. "because you're considering seeing birth mom? that's not betrayal nor being selfish," anthony reassured.

griffin slowly raised his arm and put it around nevada, gently rubbing her arm. "it's okay, princess. you know they're understand."

vinnie raised an eyebrow at griffin's touchy-ness, but tried his best to shrug it off since he's always been like towards nevada since they met.

"do you guys think i should tell bryce?" nevada asked and kio, griffin, and anthony all frantically shook their head no.

"and why the hell not?" vinnie said, "it's just lunch. it's not like she's trying to have her bio mom get custody. even then, she's nineteen so it's a little bit too late for that."

nevada nodded her head in agreement and smacked griffin's arm, "exactly! it's just lunch. my expectations are low anyways, so i should be good, right?"

kio sighed and ran his fingers through his hair, "that is the craziest shit i've ever heard come out of your mouth."

"i'm saying," griffin agreed, "bryce is gonna be pissed."

anthony rolled his eyes, "i mean... vada and vin both have a point. i know i said no, but it is just lunch. think of it like closure, you know?"

nevada smiled and grabbed anthony's face, giving him a kiss on the cheek. "aww. you're so smart, anfony. why can't the rest of you guys have a mind like him?"

"because he's not a whore," vinnie muttered.

"hey!" kio said, slightly offended, and smacked him on the back of his head, "we are not whores."

"i don't know about y'all, but i know i'm not a whore. don't get me confused with my brother now."

"speak for yourself, princess. i'm a proud whore," griffin smiled.

"don't forget a proud cheater," nevada added on and griffin put his hand on his chest, acting offended. "relax, you know i love all of you."

bryce and lisa finally came back to the house after going out to lunch and found nevada pacing back and forth outside of bryce's room.

"hey honey!" her mom greeted upon seeing here, "everything okay?"

"yeah," nevada replied and forced a smile, "just waiting for my lovely mom and lovely brother to come back. how was bar?"

"the best!" her mom exclaimed and pinched nevada's right cheek, "the next time we go, you have to come with us!"

bryce nodded his head and looked at nevada being fidget-y. he could read her like a book and knew something was wrong. "you good?" he asked.

"yeah..." nevada lied, "i just kind of want to talk to you about something." she looked at her mom and got the verbal hint to leave.

"you kids talk, okay? i'll be downstairs." lisa said and headed downstairs to the living room.

bryce and nevada walked into his room and took a seat on his bed. nevada was anxiously playing with her acrylic nails and tried to take a deep breath and calm her nerves.

"you're scaring me, vada."

nevada took a deep breath and closed her eyes, "janet wants to see me," she quickly said. she slowly opened on her eyes, not wanting to see bryce's reaction.

bryce processed what she said for a few seconds and felt his blood start to boil, "what?" was all that he managed to say.

"she's out of jail. i don't know for how long, but she told mom she wants to see me and..." nevada's voice trailed off, knowing that the next few words were probably going to hurt him.

"and?"

"i'm considering it."

bryce let out a sarcastic laugh that continued for about twelve seconds. "seriously? you're gonna go see the woman who's the reason you ended up in the system in the first place? to what? be a new family?"

"what? that's not fair," nevada said and shook her head, "i don't understand why you're so upset. is it so wrong for me to want to know what she has to say? it's not about you, bryce."

"she's just going to disappoint you, as she's been doing your entire life. i'm just trying to tell you this so you don't get hurt. going to see her is a bad and selfish choice."

"wow. you're the one trying to stop me from seeing my birth mom but i'm being selfish? that's fucking crazy."

"do whatever the fuck you want nevada," bryce said and rolled his eyes, "but when she lets you down- again- don't expect me to be your shoulder to cry on."

nevada got up, doing her best to fight back the tears. bryce was not only her brother, but she also considered him one of her bestfriends. she thought he would understand.

"thanks for nothing." nevada replied and headed towards the door, feeling hurt and betrayed.

quinton, griffin, jaden, and kio were outside the door, listening to the entire argument. "oh shit, she's coming," quinton whispered and they all scattered their separate ways.

nevada trudged downstairs and laid next to her mom on the couch. "can't fucking stand him," she muttered and lisa didn't say anything to avoid feeling like she was prying. she quietly sat there and comforted her daughter as she cried on her.

nevada knew there was a chance bryce would be upset, but she thought he would empathize regardless. she felt stuck and didn't know what to do.

she didn't want to feel like she was choosing between her brother and her biological mother.
