Watching as the clock ticked off past the three am mark, Cameron sat there at his desk. His eyes were strained and struggled to keep his eyes focused on the screen that stood tall on his desk. It felt as though he'd been stuck working from the early crack of dawn that morning without taking too much of a break. He knew there wasn’t much chance of sleeping that night after all the energy drinks he downed just to keep himself from falling asleep at his desk.
Deciding that I’d just be best to switch off his computer and give up on whatever he had left the next day after some good rest. Cameron never knew the feeling of being buzzed and also wanting to sleep for the rest of this life away.
There was a soft knock at the door from just beside his desk. “Yeah.” Cameron called out to the small crack in the doorway in front of his chair that he hardly swirled around to face. He could hardly see the door open in the room and wouldn't if it wasn’t from the dim light from down the hallway.
“Hey Cam.” He watched as his partner walked through into the room. He knew they were worried for him and actions he had committed that day, choosing to isolate himself away at his desk. Especially with the fact they found him in a pitch black room, not having any light emulating the room for Cameron to see or even focus.
“What you still doing awake?” His voice was strained and raspy, each syllable scratching his throat. Cameron could just feel himself nodding off as his partner moved closer towards him and placed a hand onto his shoulder.
“Couldn’t sleep without you.” Hands rubbed across his shoulders, further indulging him into a drowsy state. “I know I’m great and all but jesus christ this getting much.'' Cameron let out a short giggle before being gifted with a small slap across the back of his head.
“Don’t let this big ego of yours get any worse.” They told him affectionately, with a soft smile on their face and they gazed down at their boyfriend as he relaxed further into his chair.
“Come on get up before your stuck in this chair, we can go watch that new movie you mentioned the other day.”Grabbing his hand and pulling him to his feet. Cameron was tall and quickly towered over them as his stretched his back out, hearing a small click as he stood his full height.
“Lets go then baby,” Letting out a tired, toothy yet charming grin as his dipped down to press a quick peck to their cheek before leaving the room and taking his way down the hallway towards the light of their living room.
