I woke up to my blaring alarm and quickly shut it off. I looked to my side and saw Jayda slowly getting up and rubbing her eyes. I took my phone from the nightstand and looked at the date.
Great. Wednesday. Middle of the week.
I mentally sighed. I could get through the rest of this week. I sat up in my bed and went over to Jayda, putting on the happiest smile on I could for her.
"How'd you sleep?" I asked her. She looked at me with still clouded sleep deprived eyes.
"Good enough." She yawned and got up aswell. She always took a shower first. I chuckled silently to myself. God, she was way to young to be going through this. She was only 7, for God's sake! I got up and pulled out her school uniform for her and set it beside her bed.
She used to sleep in a different room when she first came here, but eventually I moved her things into mine when our foster parents weren't home, mostly because I didn't trust her alone, (not that she would do anything, I was worried about what our foster parents would do.) Besides, if she stayed in here, I could protect and help her out more. She needed someone there for her. And that someone was me.
I picked up my concealer and other makeup supplies and uniform and waited for Jayda to come out of the bathroom.
Jayda had been born in America. When she first came into the house, she only knew a couple of basic Japanese words, and I only knew a couple of English words. So, we had a bit of a language barrier at first. But I started learning more English, it was a complicated process, mind you, but in the end, it all worked out for the better.
That was 3 years ago. She was only 4 then, and I was only 12. She had grown so much since then, I had aswell.
She stepped out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around her body and quickly walked into the bedroom and promptly closed the door behind her. I was careful not to look at her for to long, sure, at first I had to see her without clothing to help treat her, but I knew she let me reluctantly. So, thats why whenever she came out of the bathroom, I never really looked at her unless I had to.
I promptly made my way into the bathroom, got undressed, and then hopped in the shower. I made sure not to take to long. I hopped out and dried myself off and then put the makeup on to cover the bruises, cuts, and more. Some self-inflicted, some not. I didn't feel like getting into much detail.
Once I thought I was done, I put the makeup back into the little pouch I had and put on my uniform. Jayda knocked on the door, I gave her permission to come in.
She promptly came over and started checking my body out, make sure I actually covered everything. "You missed a spot." She pointed out.
I turned my head towards her, "where?" I asked. She just held out her hands, I gave her the concealer. She started covering it up.
Ah. The small of my back. I never fully got that spot. She handed the concealer back to me, and I put it away. "Thanks a million, Jayda." I thanked her.
She gave me a small smile. "You're welcome, Denki!"
