When Revali was alive, he was a bastard. He couldn't stop bragging about his archery skills. Every chance he got he would compare me to himself, finding ways to make me seem less accomplished. And yet I never hated him. His, uh, personality didn't gain him many friends. People admired his skills but didn't know him well enough to be his friend.
Urbosa told me the Princess something once that I overheard: "You never know what battle someone is facing, so always be kind and practice compassion. You might find yourself commiserating with a person whose experience is much like your own."
I've found out recently that Revali's childhood was rough. His parents died shortly after he was born and the elders disowned him, leaving him as an orphan. I relate with that. My mother died giving birth to me. My dad died during battle. I have a faint memory of a little sister, though I'm not sure where she is now. The lack of a family left me alone and afraid.
Maybe it forced him to become guarded and blunt. Perhaps he didn't have many friends to confide in. I wish I I could've changed that. But now it's too late.
