you adjust the safety goggles over your tied hair, resting it snugly on the bridge of your nose. the suits you're forced to wear smell like sweat and they itch, but it provides warmth from the cold evening breeze and safety from the paint that would inevitably splash onto you. unlike the others, you had paid attention during the safety orientation. admittedly, you were the most scared, but you needed to make sure none of you would get hurt!
you adjust the harness of your gun, making sure that even though you weren't holding it, it was accessible by swinging it forward. around your neck lay the neon green whistle, which symbolized your team's color. as the team captain, the team flag was fixed onto your belt, along with your walkie talkie and a couple of glow in the dark sticks. you look at the full length mirror in front of you and smile. you were going to have so much fun beating seungmin's ass.
"rules are simple," bangchan stands in the middle of the circle, gaze shifting from member to member. "stick with your teams. if you shoot the no-no areas, it's a foul. once you're hit, blow your whistle so we know how many are out and leave the field. one member guards the flag, others have to reach the other flag and wave it to win the game. any questions?" chan finishes firmly, turning around to face the others.
"yea, uhm why can't i team with minho?" han raises his hand like a schoolboy and looks bitterly at you. you scoff, knowing full well that the only reason you chose minho was because out of all of the boys, he wouldn't hesitate to fire.
"you just wanna be with your boyfriend," felix mocks in a singsong voice, sticking his tongue out.
"no!" han says defensively, puffing his chest out. "i just dont want to be shot by him." he finishes like a child, slightly cowering behind chan. "and he's not my boyfriend," he mumbles meekly.
"look, the teams are all picked, alright? its too late to change." chan nods his head in finality.
"why'd y/n get to pick the teams?" han continues to whine, pointing at you.
"because i'm special." you tease, shaking your head at him tauntingly.
"special in the hea-"
"okay! y/n, minho, felix, and changbin, go to your base and strategize. seungmin, jeongin, han, hyunjin, go to yours. once you hear the bell ring, the game starts. got it?" chan holds the whistle from around his neck, making his way towards the outer fence. "please don't get hurt!"
as soon as chan left, seungmin made his way towards the middle, the red flag on his hip flapping in the wind. his eyes locked in on yours and he raised an eyebrow, giving you a cocky smile. although you knew it wasn't the right time, you couldn't help but notice how cute he looked. his fluffy hair was flapping in the wind, making him look so soft and light. his suit was a bit too big for him, though you had to admit that while everyone looked like they were wearing potato sacks, he actually looked like a damn snack! and the way his belt accentuated his waist almost made you drool. clearing your head, you made your way towards him, your boots crunching over the dried up leaves covering the field.
"you scared?" he asks smugly, crossing his arms in front of you.
"yea. scared of causing you more brain damage after i beat the crap out of you." you snap back, and from behind you, felix whistles lowly, followed by minho and changbin's chuckles. seungmin just laughs and takes another step forward, his figure towering over yours.
"watch it princess, you're the newbie here." he smiles sweetly, tapping his gun threateningly.
"and yet you're the one who's gonna be at my mercy." you step up to him, not backing down.
