"you're kidding me."
"shut up and hold my hand."
seungmin extended his hand towards you, a cocky grin on his face. you groaned in frustration but took it anyway, swinging your feet out of the car and standing up beside him. he giggled in excitement and unrolled the blindfold in his hand, wrapping the red silk tightly around your eyes. you were completely blinded, the smell of the fabric violating your senses.
"just hold my hand, okay?" seungmin's gentle voice was inches away from your hear, his hot breath making the loose strands of hair tucked behind your ear to fly away.
"fine, fine." you grumbled, holding his hand tightly as he started to move forward. his hands were clammy, sweaty at the palms but cold and gentle. you held it even tighter, giving a little squeeze as he placed his other hand on your shoulder to guide you along stone steps.
"can you tell me where we're going at least?" you felt him nudge your shoulder and steer you down a narrow alley.
"a place i used to go to a lot when i was a kid," you could hear the sentiment creeping in his voice, and you nodded, both hands clinging onto seungmin.
you walked in silence for a second, stumbling over rocks and stone steps, clinging onto seungmin's arms as he led you in the dark.
"when we lived here, i used to sneak away from the house and discovered this spot," he explained, his soft voice filling the silence. he pushed you forward, your face gently brushing against leaves that hung low. "when we moved, i begged them to take it with us, i was just a kid and thought we could dig her up and place her in the moving van," he held you by the shoulders and stopped you, slowly untying the blindfold. "i didn't understand why they couldn't take, well, this."
your eyes adjusted to the bright light and you squinted forward, your gaze falling onto a magnificent beech tree, it's trunk strong and thick, an old rope ladder hanging on several branches, tied tightly in knots and leaning against the rough bark. you looked up, the wooden planks forming a little balcony in front of an odd shaped room, it's roof poorly made with scraps of wood and decorated with leaves and scraps of fabric.
it stood 10 feet above the ground, it's floor being supported by the sturdy trunk of the old tree. you hesitantly stepped forward, your fingers extending to touch the rough wood. you ran the pads of your fingers along the ridges, little bits of bark falling onto the soil. you took a deep breath, the fresh air overwhelming you.
seungmin watched you nervously, gauging your reaction. this was his place, even his parents were never allowed up here. it was the one thing he had all to himself. he's always wanted to take someone that meant a lot to him to this place, but he didn't have anyone or care about anyone enough to drive out 5 hours to his secret place. until he met you.
"did you make this?" you finally asked, your hand wrapping around the rope ladder which swung dangerously in your grip.
"no, it was here before we even moved." he walked the circumference of the tree, his eyes falling onto your face. his chest swelled when he saw the look of wonder and awe in your face as you gripped the ladder tighter, preparing to climb up. you placed your foot on the first step, a loud creaking making you freeze.
"don't worry, it's stronger than it looks." seungmin held onto your hips and pushed you up, forcing you to grip onto the ladder tighter in fear. with shaking arms, you slowly climbed up, seungmin reaching up for you in case you missed a step.
you finally reached the landing, brushing off your hands onto your skirt, looking around the balcony. you held onto the railing, trying your best not to look down. the flooring creaked when seungmin began climbing, and you moved forward, finding that the balcony was bigger than you thought. the railing was up to your waist, and you held onto it, the rough wood marking against the skin of your hands.
