The morning after the horrible ordeal Nesrin Leilani Evans woke up screaming. It took Madame Pomphrey ten whole minutes to wake her and then another five to help her out her panic attack. You're safe. You're not there anymore. Those words were supposed to reassure Nesrin that everything was going to be fine but they only got her mad. Safe she scoffed. They are still here because I can't remember their bloody faces. How am I to go about my day as if nothing happened as if they won't do something like that to another unsuspecting soul. Madame Pomphrey noticed that the girl was working herself into another panic attack only was at loss what to do or say. Luckily for her the hospital wing door opened and Alice Smith and Frank Longbottom entered. Alice who was prone to anxiety attacks quickly analysed the situation correctly. She sat on Nesrins bed and took her hands in hers. Follow my breath in and out. You're doing great. Slowly Nesrin became aware of her surroundings again. Thank you Alice. How did you know what to do? Nesrin smiled gratefully at the other girl. No problem and I know what helps me when I have such an attack, stated Alice with a calming voice. Why are you here? I mean not that I'm complaining but we're not even friends. I don't think we have even talked before. Nesrin asked confused. Frank and Alice exchange a look before answering unison. We wanted to check up on you because we are worried about you. Alice added softly .When I noticed you weren't attending class I was confused because you never missed a single class before and when the portraits reported that you were badly hurt I was horrified because if there is one person who doesn't deserve being hurt over being a muggleborn it's you. You've always been kind even to the Slytherins and I don't know if you're aware how many people say that you're a candidate for being prefect. Nesrin felt warm and content hearing these words. She had no idea that she seemed likeable to so many people and it almost made the feeling of being worthless go away. Nesrin looked down on their clasped hands before saying quietly. How can I ever repay you? According to Madame Pomphrey you saved most assuredly my life yesterday. Both Frank Longbottom and Alice Smith shook their heads and assured Nesrin that there was no need to pay them back. Before she could answer Madame Pomphrey came back and shooed them out the hospital wing.
Nesrin Leilani Evans wanted nothing more than to leave the hospital wing but the cuts from the knives wouldn't close and Madame Pomphrey had to consult healers from St Mungo's to finally stop the bleeding. This meant that Nesrin had to spend a week in the hospital wing. The only thing that got her through the week were the visits from her friends though she wasn't sure if Alice, Frank and Prewett twins now counted as friends. The visits from the twins surprised her the most as they had not hidden their dislike towards her since the beginning of the school year. Mostly they tried to get her to remember who was responsible for the ambush without avail. In the time between the visits Nesrin had a lot of time to think. She tried to recall every little detail of what happened to her what resulted in horrible headaches. When she wasn't trying to remember she tried to decide how to go on. Nesrin was determined to pay them back but that wouldn't be easy as without knowing who was behind her suffering she couldn't get even with them. What Nesrin hated the most was that everyone she spoke to told her that she shouldn't let what happened influence her and that she should show them that they couldn't knock her down. For them it's easy to say they don't have anything to fear. They don't have family that can't protect themselves, she thought bitterly to herself. Nesrin felt as if she wasn't allowed to be afraid as she was a brave lion. What others didn't understand was that courage isn't the absence of fear. She wasn't even truly afraid for herself but for her parents and sisters. The only thing that worried her as she was about to leave the hospital wing was having to face Enya who hasn't stopped by once during Nesrins stay in the hospital wing. She just knew that Enya must be terribly mad at her for outing her as half blood. Not once did it cross her mind that maybe it wasn't her fault that the other girl hadn't stopped by. Nesrin was intend on speaking to Enya at the first opportunity. Speaking to Enya turned out to be harder than Nesrin had imagined. In class Enya made sure to be the first to leave and never sit close to Nesrin. After a week had passed without managing to talk with Enya she turned to Amelia for help since the girl was really close to Enya. Do you know what I've done to her that makes her avoid me like that? Amelia felt conflicted on one hand she could see how hurt her friend is on the other hand she had given Enya a promise. Eventually she chose to side with Enya. Sometimes people grow apart. You should accept that she doesn't want to be your friend anymore. Even though Amelia warned her to back off Nesrin was determined to get answers so she went to the Ravenclaw tower after curfew and answered the riddle. Upon entering the common room she was faced with the stunned looks of a few Ravenclaw students who were still up. One said imperiously: How did you manage to get in? Nesrin rolled her eyes and replied with a healthy dose sarcasm. You're not only ones that are able to answer a riddle. Now if you could show me to Enya MacDougal I can do what I came here for. A girl in the back of the common room stood up. Why couldn't you let it be? Enya seemed resigned. Follow me please since I can tell you won't listen to me if I tell you that I don't want to speak with you. She turned around and walked up the stairs. Nesrin followed her hastily. The dormitory was still empty when the two girls entered. Enya sat on her bed before asking again but this time exhausted, why couldn't you let it be. Nesrin frowned feeling slightly guilty but her desire to know why Enya can't stand to look at her anymore won out. You and Amy were my first friends. I just want to know why you stopped being my friend. I'm sorry I don't know what I did wrong. Please tell me that it wasn't the fact that I outed you as a half blood. Nesrin looked at her former friend in desperation. You want the truth. At seeing Nesrins fast nod Enya started her tale.
My mother was a muggleborn like you and like you she had only pureblood friends. She and my father met at school but they only met again after my brother's mothers untimely death. They spend the night together and mum ended up pregnant with me. Dad married her to protect us both but in the end the other pure blood families figured out that mum was a muggleborn. When I was five my mum died in an "accident" but I know that she was murdered. Any mention of her is forbidden at home and I was raised like a pureblood. Now that I'm friends with you they are reminded that I too have dirty blood in my veins. I'm putting my whole family in danger just by being seen with you.
Nesrin felt strangely enough quite angry after Enya finished talking. So this is the reason why you were so ready to drop me after the first two weeks, isn't it? She spat. Enya flinched at her venomous tone but didn't deny it either. Nesrin looked at her disappointed before storming out of the dormitory, crossing the common room and leaving Ravenclaw tower. In her haste to get away Nesrin had totally forgotten that it was already past curfew so it came to no surprise that she was caught by none other than her head of house professor McGonagall.
