SALVATION

It is said nothing is worse than being lonely. Yet all she wanted was to be alone.

Never for a moment, one moment, was she ever truly alone.
They crept up on her, strangled her, worse than loneliness ever could.
They felt like tiny, glittering chunks of glass being forcefully slammed into her brain, the delicate flesh being torn at an agonizing rate.

Brain of fire.

It made her want to scream, but rendered her unable to.
A silence so deafening, even the most roaring of sounds paled in comparison.
And just when one came to her aid, it faded away.

Salvation.

Almost in her grasp, only to be ripped away the moment she tried to catch it.
Toying with her. Torturing her.

You want me?
Come and get me.

But she couldn't, and she never would.
