It's been a long year so far for a one Ms. Issa Daniels and it's only June. "Guess the whole workaholic thing isn't exactly the best way to get and keep girlfriends.", she sarcastically thought. She then sat back and sighed. Nowadays she had a whole lot to think about. She also had a whole lot of time to think about it.

She was waiting in her worn down and barely running 2000 Taurus. She sat at a red light stewing about her current predicament. She was just in a very rocky on and off relationship. It surprisingly lasted a good five years but unfortunately it ended permanently about two  months ago.

She was not pressed though. Her love life was always the least of her worries. Getting someone has never been an issue. Sustaining a long term relationship has. So five years was easily a record for her. Needless to say with it being a record, it means it hit her harder when they broke up and being single again isn't exactly working out for the best.

She had long moved out of the apartment that she and her ex had shared together. And since then you can say she's been moving out and about. Issa often moved in and out of the city where she was born and raised in. She had been from her hometown of LA, to all the way near San Fran in Oakland. She has even stayed as far as San Diego. Issa has been going from the couches and guest rooms of various friends all around the only state she's ever known as home.

As the light turned green, a recurring thought popped into her head. "I'm so sick of this bullshit." Even in her thoughts she expressed it with complete and utter disgust. Since she was also currently  "in between jobs" the quote on quote I'm so sick of this bullshit, was actually on a constant loop in her head. Difference being that now as she thought it this time,  she has way more weighing on her mind.

Issa is a writer, well technically WAS is a better word. Her actual title was journalist. She'd been an investigative journalist working for the LA times for the last three years. That is until they started downsizing. She unfortunately became one of the many casualties.

But her true love has always been to write romance novels, anyways. Issa is 5'9 with dark chocolate skin. If you add that along to her beautiful dark brown eyes and a thick coke bottle shape. You can understand why she's always had plenty to write about. In the past she's never had any issue getting a woman if she really wanted to.

A few weeks ago she had been offered a new job.  A paid blogger. She has to research and write about different things that go on in the city. Definitely not as hard hitting and exciting as her previous job but money is money and beggars can't be choosers.

Only problem is the job is in New York City. But once again, Issa has never been outside of California, so this would be a dramatic life altering shift for her. She desperately wanted to escape the current negativity surrounding her life. But is moving across the country to a place she's never been, the best solution?

After a few days of long deliberation, she decided she is gonna hop at the chance for a change. "Shit it's worth a shot.", she thought. She figures maybe it'll be the positivity she needs in her life right now. Any chance had to be better than this shit that is currently called her life.

She went over everything. Con and pros. She figured bad stuff should be recognized first and save the best for last. So first con, she has no job. Second con goes with that, she broke as fuck. Third con goes with that, she is officially homeless. So then she thought what are the pros. And she could only think of one: she'll get away from all of that shit.

After Issa folds and stuffs  the last of her shirts into her luggage. She jumps up and yells, "FINALLY!!" She then stretches and breathes a large sigh of relief. She doesn't have much so that means she fortunately doesn't have much to pack. She scrolls her phone to check and double check her flight plans are still in order. She emails her new boss and her new landlord.

She had to take some money out of her savings for a place she's never physically seen. Those virtual tours. Don't give you a full idea of shit. She's going in blindly on every aspect of her new life. This puts her completely out of her comfort zone. "This shit better work out.", she thinks and pockets her phone. Issa has always until late been extremely organized. Or also can be known as uptight.

She then hears a ping. She pulls back out her phone. "Shit!!", she instantly thinks when she sees the name. She really don't got the time or the patience today.

Charlie: Have u talked to mama or daddy

Issa's older brother Charlie was probably the most problematic narcissistic asshole she's ever known in her life. He was 6 years older than her but maturity wise, he was without a doubt the more irresponsible babied one.

Issa: No and what is it now

She knew he wanted something. He only got in contact with their parents or her when he wanted something. Money cars(or oddly once a trip to Florida for him and his blonde big tittied next door neighbor). Not only was he a narcissist he was a mooching drunk. She asked what he wanted but honestly she really doesn't give a fuck.

Charlie: Y it always gotta be sumthin I just asked

She rolls her eyes. That's all she needs to read.  "I ain't got the time today." She pockets her phone. Leaving him on read will only piss him off and make him throw a fit. But she rather enjoys the thought of that.  She goes to the kitchen and gets a beer.

She plops down on the couch in her friend Andre's guest room. She looks around. "I can't wait to get into my own spot.", she thinks. It's not that she's not grateful or it's a terrible place. She just isn't comfortable with being out of control of things in her life. Having her own place means it's something she can be in control over. Once again uptight, remember?

This is an understandable feeling, though. She feels almost helpless right now. So New York honestly can't come soon enough.  She cracks open the beer. "Cheers", she says aloud. "Here's to hoping for a fucking new start.", she thinks. She sighs and she also thinks, "Here's to New York New York being my new fucking start."
