Chapter Eighteen-She's Gone

¥•ADAM'S POV•¥

Zoe's taking longer than usual to get back, I should go check on her... I think, and walk downstairs and to the end of the driveway. I look down the road for her, and just then, a black van speeds by, going well over a hundred miles per hour.

I see a head of brown hair in the back, but that's all I see.

No, it can't be...It's probably not, she might just be walking back. Yeah, she's walking back.

I go back in, and get my keys. I get in the car, and drive all the way to the stop sign, about a mile down the road.

She's not there.

"Fuck," I mutter, and go as fast as I can back to the house.

"Alesa!" I shout, running inside.

"What's the matter?" she asks, running out of the living room and over to me.

"Zoe...she's been kidnapped." I say, tears threatening to spill over. Alesa's eyes grow wide, and then soften. She pulls me in, and I start to cry on her shoulder.

"Adam, she's a strong girl. We'll find her, she'll make it through this. Trust me." she says, looking into my eyes.

"Thanks Alesa, I needed that." I sigh, and peck her cheek. "But right now, I need to go call the police."

€•ZOE'S POV•€

I wake up in a dimly lit room, the concrete walls moldy and streaked with water residue. I try to move, but cringe in pain when the rough ropes scrape across my scars.

"Well, well, well. Look who's up." a voice says. I look around, and jump a little when I see a figure standing right behind me.

"Scared?" they ask, and laugh, a cruel, wicked laugh. Like the laugh of a murderer right before they kill their victim.

I really hope that's not the case.

They walk around in front of me, and my eyes widen.

"J-Josh?" I ask, almost speechless.

"Hello, Zoe." he smirks, and chuckles a little. "Man, you sure are gullible."

"I trusted you." I say.

"Never trust people like me." he says, still smirking his little ass off. "I will take you to museums, parks, and monuments, kiss you in every beautiful place, so that you can never go back to them without tasting me like blood in your mouth. I will follow you around forever, like a vengeful spirit. I will destroy you in the most beautiful way possible. And when I leave, you will finally understand why storms are named after people."

And with that, he walks up the stairs, and slams the door.

I sit there in silence for a while, but when I feel like I'm about to go crazy, I start to do things to break the silence.

I continue to sing, getting louder and louder.
