✧ EREN'S POV ✧
"mikasa..? annie..??" i broke the piercing silence and mikasa started bombarding me with questions about where the heck was i during the time i cannot be found, about what i was even doing, and a LOT more. "hey uh eren?" annie called out my name so i hummed in response. "who's your little zombie-like friend here?" she viewed levi from top to bottom.
"annie!" i whisper shouted and levi just scoffed. "i'm this brat's..." levi glanced up at me, unsure of what he was to me, probably because after i said this whole thing was a big misapprehension we never really talked about what our relationship was. "he's my husband, see?" i took the risk of calling him that and lifted his hand up, showing the round accessory on his wedding finger. mikasa's eyes widen to the max, annie's face was painted with disbelief but soon her face went back to its usual manner, levi was frozen, no sound whatsoever came from him, but i could see a glimmer of contentment in his steel eyes.
"excuse me, what?" mikasa was dismayed by this and her voice crack supports that reaction. "well lets just say it was an accident" i shrugged, earning an eyebrow raise from annie. "but.. i don't really mind being 'married' to him" i proceeded slowly. "and what's that supposed to mean?" mikasa chimed in. "what i mean is, i couldn't care less if he was not... alive anymore, i want to stick around"
"what.. what are you trying to say here, eren?" mikasa reluctantly asked.
"mikasa i don't want to stay up here"
"w.. what?"
"to put it simply, i'll be gone forever"
"y... your reason?"
"hang on, levi and annie, could you guys wait behind that tree over there, i need to speak privately with mikasa"
"right" levi made eye contact with annie, and her last word was "reasonable" before she strolled over to levi and the two left in complete silence. "mikasa, you and i both don't want to spend the rest of our lives together like this, correct?" i started. "correct.." she muttered and i carried on, "look, this could benefit you too. if i was gone, you could end up with annie, thats what you actually want right?"
✧ MIKASA'S POV ✧
holy hell eren knows me too well. i nodded anyway and he went on again. "if our parents question my whereabouts, just tell them i'm dead, killed, murdered, whatever cause of death you choose to go with. i mean, its not completely lying to say i'm dead when i'll be down there" he pointed at the ground. at this point i think he's just cuckoo or loony.
"eren think about this thoroughly! you're throwing your entire life away for someone you just met! not to mention we don't even know what the hell he is"
"he used to be a human, just like us. the only difference is that he's no longer breathing"
"come on, you're leaving everything behind for a freaking dead guy?!"
"a dead guy i'm developing feelings for"
"what has gotten into you! for fuck's sake its only been a few hours eren, A FEW HOURS!"
"ever heard of 'love at first sight'?"
"fucking hell eren... have some common sense! think clearly! this is all bonkers! this is ridiculous, absurd, outrageous! you sound like a lunatic!"
"so what if i'm off my rocker? so what if i'm crazy? [all the best ppl are :) srry i had to- melanie fans where u at] so what if i have a couple screws loose? do i look like i give a fuck?"
"i'll knock some sense into you"
"enlighten me on what you m-"
i crashed my lips on eren's. i kept his hands on his sides, using my iron grip so he wouldn't escape. he was clearly trying to break free, i could feel him refusing to kiss back.
✧ LEVI'S POV ✧
"so what are you? that 'mikasa' girl's lover?" i crossed my arms and witnessed a light crimson shade creeping up on annie's face. "no not really.." her blush faded in an instant. "should we check on them?" her attempt of changing the subject actually caught my interest.
"maybe"
"you go first then, i'll follow behind"
"coward much?"
"i just don't want to be the first one who has to face whatever havoc those two created"
"huh, good point"
with that, i walked out first, like annie said before, she followed close behind. "oi jaeger and you, mikasa or whatever your name is, are you fi-" my eyes almost plopped out of its sockets due to the horrifying sight up ahead. mikasa's lips were pressed against eren's while eren was trying to get away from this physical contact. they finally broke apart.
"WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK, MIKASA? YOU PROMISED ME WE WOULD NEVER DO ANYTHING ROMANTIC, NEVER" eren snapped at the dark haired female in front of him. "YOU CLEARLY LACK SANITY RIGHT NOW" mikasa defended herself.
"tell me... this is just a sick joke" i croaked, trying not to break down right then and there. "mi.. kasa? what he said, this is just some messed up joke right?" annie joined in.
"levi-"
"a.. annie-"
annie stayed silent and stormed out, aggressively pushing away the vines and bushes. even pulled down some. "ANNIE WAIT UP-"
i slowly walked backwards, trying to convince myself this is just a bad dream. "levi.. levi, come here... don't.. don't walk away..." i can hear the distress in his voice but i couldn't handle this. my back hit the tree trunk and i was about to go back to hanji and armin.
✧ EREN'S POV ✧
i shifted my gaze to mikasa, glaring at her with pure hatred and anger. "what. have. you. done." before mikasa could give me her reply, i sternly told her, "you fix your problem with annie, i'll fix mine. have fun with her"
she opened her mouth to say something but nothing ever came out. i dashed to levi, getting a hold of his wrist just in time for me to be transported back to the land of the dead with him.
"levi.." he ignored me.
"levi..." he angrily pulled his wrist out of my not so hard grip.
"levi.... i beg you, look at me" he was doing something with his hands and then he threw something over his shoulder to me. i managed to catch it and i was surprised to see that it was the ring. he turned his head, making 1 second of eye contact with me, and sorrowfully murmured,
"its not mine anyway..."
