Valeria

Morning of November 6th, 2038 - 9:26 AM

Valeria was beside Gavin in the break room, a paper cup of coffee in her hand. She swirled the contents of the cup around, sighing as she stared at the wall. It was clear she was stalling for time, avoiding the desks so she didn't have to sit anywhere near Hank or the new android.

"This is fucking bullshit," she muttered, crushing the cup in her hand. The remaining liquid splashed onto the floor, and she stepped over the puddle to throw the cup out.

"You're telling me. I was only kidding about having to find a new partner," Gavin replied, glancing at her with a smirk.

"I'm so glad you're enjoying this, Reed," she snapped, turning back to face him. He chuckled as he walked back to the coffee pot, filling his cup again before he walked back to the table.

"Watching you freak out is rare. And now it's happened twice in twenty four hours," he said, bracing his elbows against the table. "Your brain'll short circuit, you'll die, and then I'll really be up shit creek without a paddle."

Before Valeria could say anything, another officer, Tina Chen, entered the break room. She offered a smile to the both of them as she filled herself a cup of coffee, then joined Gavin's table.

"Something exciting going on? Because you two don't know how to argue quietly," she said, taking a sip of her drink.

"Val here's just upset that she's getting moved to the deviant case," Gavin said. "Think she'll miss my company most of all."

"Shove it, Reed." Valeria rolled her eyes and leaned against the wall, sighing as Connor entered the break room.

"Fuck, look at that," Gavin called, dipping his head as he chuckled. "Our friend, the plastic detective, is back in town!"

"Gav," Valeria muttered, but he ignored her, standing straight and clapping his hands.

"Congratulations on last night, very impressive!" he jeered, and Connor turned to look at him. His glance flickered to Tina, then to Valeria, before settling back on Gavin.

"Hello, Detective Reed, Officers Chen and Wilson," he said, and both women nodded their heads back in greeting. Gavin drummed his fingers against the table before walking over to Connor, stopping a few inches away.

"Never seen an android like you before. What model are you?" he asked.

"Dipshit, it's on his jacket," Valeria called, and Tina chuckled as she brought her coffee cup to her lips. Gavin ignored her and continued to look at Connor, awaiting an answer.

"RK800. I'm a prototype," the android responded.

"A prototype?" Gavin's voice was mocking as he turned back to Tina. "Android detective," he explained.

"I figured," Tina replied quietly.

"So machines are gonna.... replace us all, is that it?" Gavin asked.

"Quit your fear mongering, Reed. Trust me, no one wants your job," Valeria said, and Connor glanced at her for a moment.

"Hey," Gavin said, drawing Connor's attention back to him. "Bring me a coffee, dipshit. Get a move on!"

"I'm sorry, but I only take orders from Lieutenant Anderson, and Ms. Miller," Connor replied.

"Oh... oh, well in that case." Gavin turned to look at Tina and Valeria before pulling his arm back and punching Connor in the would-be stomach. The android held his middle before dropping to the ground in surprise, one knee and his right fist braced on the ground.
