Valeria
Afternoon of November 6th, 2038 - 3:02 PM
Valeria and Connor were still seated in the back of Hank's car as he drove them to a small food truck, the Chicken Feed, for lunch. She wouldn't admit it out loud, but she and Gavin had gone there for lunch a few times themselves, and she was starting to miss him.
"Officer Wilson?" Connor's voice snapped her out of her thoughts, and she turned to look at him with an arched brow.
"What's up?" she asked.
"Are you going to accompany me over to Lieutenant Anderson? I'd like to speak with him, but I don't want to leave you without notice," he said.
"Oh, uh, yeah, sure. I'll join you. Maybe I'll grab a bite to eat, too. Kinda hungry," she said, and Connor nodded. He got out of the car and made his way around to her side, watching for traffic before opening her door up for her. She arched her brow before getting out of the car, stepping aside a bit so he could shut the door.
"Uh, thanks," she said, tucking her hands into her pockets as the rain hit her face, rolling down her cheeks. Connor paused to look at her, his head tilting slightly as he blinked a few times. It was only when Valeria started across the street that Connor came back to reality and followed her. In a few strides, he was able to fall into step beside her, and they approached the food truck just as Hank pressed a bit of money into another man's hand. As he walked away, Connor and Valeria stepped up to either side of Hank, and he glanced between the two of them with a groan.
"What is your problem? Don't you ever do as you're told? Look, you don't have to follow me around like a poodle!" Hank said, turning back to the cook in the truck.
"Eh, he's not weird enough to be a poodle. I get more labrador vibes from him," Valeria said, looking up at the menu. Hank glanced down at her, and he chuckled a bit.
"Fair," he said. "You hungry? Get something, I got it covered."
"Uh, just a soda. Pineapple, if they got it," she said. Hank nodded and caught the cook's attention, adding the second soda to his order.
"I'm sorry for my behavior back at the police station. I didn't mean to be unpleasant," Connor apologized, and Valeria chuckled quietly.
"Oh, wow," Hank muttered. "You've even got a brown-nosing apology program! Guys at CyberLife thought of everything, huh?" He leaned forward and took his food and drink from the cook, and Valeria took her own soda after, arching a brow as the cook winked down at her. As she and Hank turned away, the cook snapped his fingers to get their attention.
"Hey! Don't leave that thing here," he called.
"Huh, not a chance. Follows me everywhere. Her, too." Hank motioned to Valeria, and she rolled her eyes before walking towards the closest table. Connor glanced at them, then turned to follow, as Hank muttered a "see". Valeria began to chew on her straw, taking a small sip of her soda as Connor leaned forward a bit.
"Your meal contains one point four times the recommended daily intake of calories, and twice the cholesterol level. You shouldn't eat that," he said.
"Everybody's gotta die of something," Hank countered, taking a bite out of his burger.
"Well, I don't want to alarm you, Lieutenant, but I think your friends are engaged in illegal activities..."
"Everybody does what they have to to get by. As long as they're not hurting anybody, I don't bother 'em."
"Good man, good man," Valeria said, nodding a bit. Hank looked down at her, then he held out his soda, and with a grin, she stopped chewing on her straw and tapped his cup with her own.
