Valeria

Afternoon of November 9th, 2038 - 4:23 PM

When Valeria and Gavin entered the station that afternoon, she knew something was wrong. They had gone to visit Chris after his encounter with the deviants, and to make sure his wife and son were doing okay. Tina had been there as well, and she volunteered to stay so they could get back to work. But when they did, Valeria saw that her desk was back over by Gavin's, her things strewn about haphazardly.

"Would you look at that," Gavin muttered, folding his arms. "Guess we're partners again."

"Where the fuck is Fowler?" she grumbled, looking around the precinct. She spotted him

in his office, along with Hank and Connor. Her fingers curled into fists as she marched past Gavin and up the steps to Fowler's office, throwing open the door. All three of them looked at her as she slammed the door shut behind her, rattling the walls.

"Oh, Wilson, perfect timing. We need to have a ta—" Fowler started, but he wasn't fast enough to speak over her rage.

"Who the fuck moved my desk?" she demanded. "They fucked up my stuff!"

"Calm down, and let me talk," Fowler said, and she huffed. "You're all off the case. The FBI is taking over. And Wilson, you'll be back with Reed on future assignments."

"What? But we're on to something," Hank said, setting a hand on one of Connor's shoulders and one on Valeria's. "We just need more time, I'm sure we can–"

"Hank, you don't get it. This isn't just another investigation. It's a fucking civil war! It's out of our hands now. We're talking about national security here," Fowler said as Hank rolled his eyes.

"Fuck that! You can't just pull the plug now. Not when we're so close!"

"You're always saying you can't stand androids! Jesus, Hank, make up your mind! I thought you'd be happy about this!"

"We're about to crack the case! I know we can solve it. For God's sake, Jeffrey, can't you back me up this one time?" Hank snapped, and Fowler sighed.

"There's nothing I can do. You're back on homicide, Wilson goes back with Reed, and the android returns to CyberLife. I'm sorry, Hank, but it's over."

Wordlessly, Hank left the office, leaving Connor and Valeria with Fowler. He looked between the two, saying nothing as Connor took Valeria's hand in his own and led her from the office. But before they could leave entirely, Valeria grabbed the door handle and slammed the door shut behind her as hard as she could, some sick part of her hoping to shatter the glass. Connor led her down the stairs and back to Hank's desk, letting go of her hand as he sat on the edge of it. She sat in the open chair, leaning forward to let her forehead rest against the tabletop with a huff.

"We can't just give up like that. I know we could have solved this case!" Connor said, shaking his head.

"So, you're going back to CyberLife?" Hank asked, glancing at Valeria, who'd lifted her head slowly, the emotion on her face hard to read.

"I have no choice... I'll be deactivated and analyzed to find out why I failed..." Connor jumped slightly as Valeria stood suddenly, her chair sliding across the floor to slam into the desk behind it. She walked away from the pair, her fingers clenched into fists as she walked towards her desk, kicking another chair out of her way. Swallowing thickly, she began to reorganize her items, shaking her head slightly. Nothing about this was fair. She and Hank were finally starting to somewhat get along, she was feeling more comfortable around people who weren't Gavin, Chris, or Tina, and now, it was slipping through her fingers. Now, she was losing Connor...
