Y/n's POV

"Now campers, when you go up to the cabins, check to see if your name is on the Buddy system for that cabin. If you don't see your name, then check other cabins," Derek's voice rang out as he addressed the group. I trailed behind a group of girls who were gossiping about my brother.

"Derek is so hot!"

"Caitlyn, go for it."

"But Lyle, he's way older."

I pretended to gag at their conversation. Hearing them talk about Derek like that was just gross. I glanced at Cabin 3, hoping my name was listed since all my stuff was already there.

Y/n Hassildor

As I turned away, I heard giggling from the group of girls behind me. Curious, I looked over and saw them pointing and whispering. I made my way towards them, but before I could intervene, Bella slipped and fell into the mud.

"Mud baths are fun, campers," Bella tried to lighten the mood as she got up, but some campers started mocking her. "I'm the main counselor for Cabin 3. Later on, we'll all meet in the art room. Now, make yourselves at home and have fun. I'm gonna shower," she announced before walking away.

"She's just trying to make this an exciting camp night. The least you can do is not be so rude," I said, feeling compelled to defend Bella. The girls scoffed at me.

"You're from Shadyside; we're from Sunnyvale. Don't talk to us, witch," one of them sneered.

I'd had enough of being insulted. Without thinking, I threw a punch at the girl who had spoken, and before I knew it, we were grappling on the ground. I struggled as Rodrick pulled me off.

"Let me go!" I shouted angrily.

"Y/n, calm down!" Rodrick's voice was firm as he held onto me.

He addressed everyone sternly. "Everyone, outside immediately! I'm getting Derek. No more fighting. I'll be back."

"You freak! We just got here, and now we're in trouble," the girl I had fought with hissed at me.

"Go to hell, bitch!" I retorted, seething. Then, we heard clapping – Derek had arrived.

"That's enough, Y/n! Now, one person at a time, tell me what happened," Derek commanded.

I explained my side first, followed by the other girl. After hearing both stories, Derek made a decision.

"Y/n, move to Cabin 9. You're with them now," Derek instructed firmly.

I stood there in shock. "So, I'm by myself?" I muttered, not entirely surprised.

"It's not personal," Derek said, attempting to soften his directive before turning to the other girls. "You can all go back in now."

As they walked away, I stared down at the ground, feeling a mix of anger and disappointment. My brother sighed.

"Look, I know we haven't seen eye to eye lately, but you aren't getting along with any of your cabin mates. Just go to Cabin 9. I'm sorry," he apologized before walking away.

I trudged back to Cabin 3, where the girls continued to make fun of me. I ignored them; being treated poorly wasn't new to me.

Moving to Cabin 9, I caught sight of Nick, who greeted me with a grin. "You lost?" he teased.

I shook my head. "No, just moving to Cabin 9."

"You must be Y/n," he remarked knowingly.

I paused. "You know about me?"

Nick chuckled. "Of course I do. Derek warned us all to watch out for a hothead. I'm guessing that's you."

"Yep," I replied shortly, eager to settle into my new cabin.

Nick walked with me for a bit. "Shouldn't you be with your cabin?" I asked, feeling annoyed.

"Yeah, I'll let you go. Nice chatting with you," he said, waving goodbye as I flipped him off playfully.

Entering Cabin 9, I noticed it looked like it hadn't been used in years. Despite its age, it was tidy, and I began unpacking my clothes into the dresser. As I settled in, the bell rang, signaling a new development for the day. I hurried back to the main area, eager to see what would happen next at Camp Night.
