Y/n's POV

Time skip one day until Color War

"Alright everyone, today is the most exciting day!" Derek's voice boomed excitedly. Ziggy, my friend who wasn't from Shadyside but was always supportive, asked, "Y/n, aren't you excited?"

She knew about my mega crush on Rodrick and teased me about it daily. "Now, before we start, the counselors will get everything set up. And don't forget to grab your shirts!" Cindy reminded us all.

"Jack is from Sunnyvale, and Erica is from Shadyside. Blue is for Sunnyvale, while Red is for Shadyside," Derek explained to the campers. "Don't worry, I'll try to get the others out before you," Ziggy whispered to me mischievously. I chuckled. "I can't deal with you. Let's go get our shirts before we get yelled at," I muttered, and she smirked. "Like Rodrick would yell at you."I walked up to Erica as she handed out the shirts. "Blue is for beautiful if you live in Sunnyvale, Red is for radiance if you live in Shadyside," she announced, passing me my red shirt. Ziggy and I quickly put them on and headed into the mess hall, gossiping as we went.

Derek and Cindy walked in, glaring at both of us. "You two, it's time for Water War. Get outside," Derek instructed firmly. I shot him a glare. "Hurry up," Cindy added, urging us on.
We begrudgingly joined our respective
groups. As we gathered for Water War, I scanned the crowd and spotted Rodrick with Alice on the Sunnyvale team.

"Alright! Campers, tonight is Water War. You can only run and catch. Please, no hiding and no one enters the cabins," Ben, one of the counselors, instructed us. "Shadysiders! We may have sucked at Water War years ago, but let's win tonight. It's good versus evil, and evil always wins!" Derek declared enthusiastically. Nick stepped forward. "Alright, Sunnyvale, let's just have fun and be safe out there."

"On your mark, get set... go! May the best win!" Derek announced, starting the event with music playing in the background. I grabbed a water balloon and threw it, but my aim was off, and I missed dramatically.

Chris grinned at me, preparing to throw one back when Erica intercepted and hit him instead. "Ha, yes!" I exclaimed, high-fiving Erica for the save.

"Damn it!" I cried out when Caitlyn nailed me in the face with a water balloon, causing my nose to bleed. I hurried to the nearest outhouse to clean up.

Inside, I washed my bloody nose when I heard the door open. Assuming it was someone else, I didn't think much of it until I glanced in the mirror and saw Rodrick's black hair. He sighed, commenting, "You and those bloody noses."

I turned off the water, avoiding eye contact.
Rodrick gently took hold of my elbow and turned me to face him. He lifted my chin with his hand, his smudged eyeliner somehow adding to his allure. My heart raced as he leaned in, but I stopped him just before our lips met.

"We can't. I'm a camper," I mumbled, unsure yet drawn to him. Rodrick shook his head and kissed me anyway, pressing me lightly against the stall door. I couldn't believe what was happening as his hands moved to my waist. But amid the excitement, I found myself anxious. Could I go all the way with him, or would I panic?

Knock, knock.

Startled, I jumped back, and so did Rodrick.

"You in here, Y/n? I saw the bloody nose," came Derek's voice from outside. In a rush, Rodrick slipped into a stall, and I opened the door to find Bella waiting. "Yep, I'm fine," I assured her, and she sighed in relief. "Go to Nurse Lane," she suggested. I wanted to protest but decided to walk away instead.

I made my way to Nurse Lane's office, calling out, "Nurse Lane?"

"Hello? I'm about to die here," she joked, but there was no sign of her. Spotting a partially open door, I peeked inside and found a journal. Curiosity got the better of me, and I began reading.
