"Did you make any friends?" asked Refia, slowing her pace to match Blaise's and shooting her a warm look. The huntress snorted.
"What are you, my mom?" she asked, masking her irritation with a look of amusement. "I don't know about being friends but I did meet someone interesting." she said in the end, carefully choosing her words so as not to alert Mizuki and Feng.
Her thoughts went back to the girl with the head covers, something worshippers of Thitris wore. "Her name is Artemis Abal." the assassin nodded as though trying to place a face to the name.
"Artemis? She's a nice friend to have. Could literally stab me in the throat and I would thank her." said Mizuki, a smile on her face, "Really powerful too."
At Blaise's visible confusion, Mizuki widened her eyes, "You haven't heard of her? She's a priestess at a temple also doubled as a sanctuary."
"A sanctuary for what? And what makes her powerful?" asked the huntress, her interest piqued.
"Sexual assault survivors." replied Alev, opening the door to the exit of the mansion and leading them down a path downstream.
"When they feel comfortable enough, survivors can choose to tell her about their abuser and she hunts them down." she continued but Refia quickly cut her off.
"And then they usually have their cocks chopped off." she glared at Alev. "You always leave out the best part." she finished with a pout. The fire witch looked horrified.
"You are way too into the last part."
"You aren't into it enough."
"Has she ever done it to one of the people here?" asked Blaise. Since Artemis was a hunter endeka, it was natural for her to weed the bad people out of their coven. Perhaps in another life, where she wasn't a witch, the two could've been friends.
"Not quite, but almost. Osman." Artemis appeared behind the girl and shot her a friendly smile.
"When did you get here, I didn't hear you." said Feng who had been standing next to Blaise.
"Speak of the devil and you'll conjure it. I was passing by and I heard you guys talk about priestesses and it interested me." she shrugged and turned to Blaise.
"The initiation will probably come off as weird to you but don't show it." the huntress nodded and decided it would be better not to ask why.
"Why did you do it? Well, why did you almost do it?" asked Blaise, not wanting to talk about her initiation further, "I'm certain he deserved it but why?"
"Aside from being a priestess, I work in a brothel. He said I was pathetic for selling my body, that I was stupid and didn't know anything of how the real world works which was why I've decided to be a 'cheap whore' in his words." she chuckled, "He was adorably wrong of course."
"I enjoy sex, I'm good at it and it's a practical job." she shrugged. "I'm not going to sit here and tell you that everyone is doing it because they want to, because that is absolutely untrue and I've dedicated my life to helping those who didn't have a choice in the matter." the look on her face darkened as she said the last part.
"I do this job because I enjoy it and it allows me to help the people who have been forced into it. Men will call me pathetic and cheap for doing so but they're the ones desperate enough to pay someone for even a little bit of action."
There was an awkward silence for a moment as Blaise stared at the endeka in front of her in wonder and amazement. She admired the endeka and was sure she would've wanted to be like her had she not sold her soul to the Kazmeralki.
