"Lady Priestess! Please bestow blessings upon my son so that he may be cleansed of his sins!" the old man in front of Lumine wept. She held back her disgusted expression as she smiled warmly at him. This man's son had committed rape, and they openly confessed it to her, including the fact that he'd murdered that poor orphan girl. There was no longer civility or respect in the society.

'Child, we must forgive his son. He was under the influence of alcohol." Masea's voice spoke in her mind. Masea was the goddess of kindness. She loved her subjects, way too much. Lumine scowled internally.

'Whatever. I'm gonna curse him.' she replied to Masea, who sighed. Her voice held sorrow, as if she was sad that that rapist was going to get what he deserved. What was with her? Lumine knew that every god held extremely onto their ideals, but this was just being blind due to love. Like letting a pet dog go because he was so cute.

'Ul Vespiarre!' she chanted in her mind. This was a well known curse. Well, since you wouldn't know, let her explain this. Yes, she knows you're reading right now, so she'll treat you as a witness and talk to you from time to time as well as explain things. If you don't understand anything, you can ask her. What's this situation? Well, let her explain.

Lumine is a priestess. Every country has one. A priestess is someone who delivers God's messages to people, holds a fraction of that God's power, and so on. Blah blah blah. The priestess is born with a golden flower mark on her forehead. Which Lumine has, a splendid golden flower, which they pulled her bangs back to reveal. The priestess is basically made into a shut in, who is not allowed to talk to men who have not come to ask for her help, and has to live for the rest of her life in the temple. It honestly sucks. Lumine is expected to love God. But will she? Nope. She has a good plan in mind for today. Yes, running away. Why didn't she do this before? Mostly because she's a lazy bum who loves free food and chanting curses. But now she wants to run away. Maybe go homeless. Very aesthetic ideas, do not try at home.

She chanted a curse on a pink bracelet and handed it to the old man. The old man inspected it carefully,"Is there no other colour? This colour is more suited for . . . women such as yourself." he stated boldly. Lumine almost ripped his skull open in her brain. Oops, Kant, looks like I'm losing my rationality.

"Pink is manly colour, as well as a bringer of love and happiness." she smiled, but inside, she was seething with rage. Take it or leave it. The old man bowed again, then took his leave. Not even a word of thanks.

"Now, then, shall we guide you to your chamber? You must want to talk to Lord Masea, right?" one of her attendants smiled. So, there was this marriage thing that every priestess had to do with gods, regardless of gender. Basically, priestesses had to be love them, no matter what. And she was expected to talk to Masea all day. It was tiring, honestly. Masea wasn't fun at all.

"I'll be going to bed early today." Lumine stood up, with a regal look on her face. Her attendants bowed and made way for her. She grinned and ran to her room, as soon as everyone else was out of sight.

'I never expected you to betray me.' Masea sighed. 'But I guess I should have expected that. You have been a caged bird for too long. Spreading your wings is more natural for you.' Lumine gave her one last smile as Masea materialized behind her, pink hair with purple tips glinting in the light as she gave a final smile to the blonde.

"I'll be going now."

"Take care. Though, without you, this land will likely come to an end."

"Don't be so lenient."

"I won't. Now go." Masea pushed Lumine's shoulder slightly. She smiled and bowed. All her life, Masea had been her only family. This was hard, but she had to do it.

"Farewell, mother." Lumine slashed her palm with a knife, and using the blood that fell from it, she drew a crimson magic circle.

"Falfa!"

And just like that, in a flash of light, the young priestess, the golden maiden of dawn, was gone forever from the wretched glass cage that she had been trapped in for so long. Off to a new start, off to the freedom that soared in the sky like the breeze of spring.
