They snuck into the Golden House with much effort with the help of the Fatui.
"They're taking us to dump the blame on us, but if we get caught, we dump the blame on 'em." Albedo whispered. Lumine didn't exactly like that but nodded. Childe held a hand out to escort her, which she accepted as she stepped over piles of rocks to the narrow back opening of the Golden House.
"You know, you're really pretty, ojou chan." Childe complimented her. Lumine turned red. She hadn't ever received a compliment like that. She felt her heart squeezing in her chest as she smiled at him.
"Thank you." she quickly turned her head away from him. She heard him laugh beside her and pleaded to the readers to help her with her predicament. "You look really nice too." she added. Childe smiled as he led her ahead. He seemed really nice for a high ranking member of an evil organization. He looked really handsome too, she remarked internally.
"Be on your effing guard." Albedo elbowed her as he followed behind her. Lumine rolled her eyes and nodded. She knew who was good and who was bad. This guy didn't have any malicious intent in him. She could sense it. Although Venti was . . . nevermind. He'd betrayed her more than she'd liked it.
"Thats it! Thats what they'd hidden here!" Childe pointed to a box that lay in front of their eyes. They went up carefully to it. The box had intricate golden designs on it and a beautiful exterior. Childe carefully slid the lid off.
"And now we finally have the-" Childe was cut off as his eyes widened in surprise. There was absolutely nothing in the box. His eyes glowered in fury at Lumine and Albedo.
"You, you took it, didn't you?!" his bloodshot eyes lay upon them. Lumine stepped back in surprise.
"Chill dude!" Albedo stepped back as well, holding his hands midair trying to keep some distance between them.
Childe lunged at Albedo and had him down on the ground in no time. Albedo couldn't use his dragon form as it would probably cause a lot of chaos and draw unwanted attention. Lumine tried to cast a spell on Childe, but he was too fast for her to keep up with. He held her throat and squeezed it with an emotionless look in his eyes.
"S-stop-" she pleaded as she hung pathetically in the air begging for him to let her go. He brought his face near hers and whispered in a gruff voice.
"Where is it?"
"I don't know-" she replied through tears. She was scared stiff to cast a spell on him. If it failed, it would cost her her life. Why was she so weak? Just why? Why was she so useless? Well, maybe it would be better if she just died. She closed her eyes and waited for the inevitable.
Suddenly, she felt a gust of wind hit her face and she fell to the ground as Childe cried out in pain. She regained her senses slowly as air filled her lungs once more and coughed heavily as her once blackened vision returned to its mundane self. She looked up slowly to meet the eyes of someone she hadn't ever expected to see.
"Kazuha!" she cried out as her eyes met with the crimson ones of her wanderer friend. He had his katana out and his gaze fixed on Childe, who was returning back to normal from his staggered position and readied his daggers once more.
"Albedo san, take Lumine san and run." Kazuha pointed to the exit as Anemo glittered on his sword. Albedo's eyes widened.
"That guy's a harbinger, bestie! Run with us!" Albedo shouted. Kazuha shook his head and smiled slightly.
"Someone has to be here to keep an eye on him as well as distract him. So, run for it while you can." Kazuha parried the hits that Childe came at him with, eyes concentrated on battle.
"We can't do anything. We'll have to run." Lumine admitted.
"E-eh?!" Albedo seemed shocked. She grabbed his hand and pulled him away from the battle.
At that time she thought of only one thing.
Why am I so useless?
