The Casino was open and as busy as ever, King Dice was walking around the Casino floor, occasionally talking with the gamblers and the staff. He looked out for anyone who might be willing to sell their soul to the Devil. Before he knew it, he was backstage, getting ready to sing, he peeked out to see the crowd, and instantly he spotted the Devil. His heart fluttered, and a soft purple blush dusted his cheeks. He calms himself down before stepping out onto the stage with his most charming smile, and as the music picks up he begins to sing. Though he is quickly stopped with the doors banging into the walls as they open, everyone looks to the doors to see none other than Cuphead and Mugman standing there.
"Cups, we don't need to do this, we don't need to be here," Mugman said, attempting to pull his brother away.
"Yes we do, they're still alive, and they are still conning people out of their souls!" Cuphead shouted.
King Dice cracked his knuckles, "You boys are quite the trouble makers, I'd listen to Mugsy, Cupface, this is a fight you won't be winnin' again." He jumped off the stage, calling the workers with a whistle.
"Yeah? Well we beat your sorry butt before, we could do it again!" Cuphead yelled, attempting to fire a bullet at King Dice, but his powers failed, and a rather pathetic bullet dropped to the ground in front of him, "Wha- What?"
The Devil smirks getting up from his seat, and jumping down in front of the brothers, "Stand down Dice, I'll handle these insolent children." He turns his head back towards the brothers, "Looks like that pesky potion wore off. You should run back home before I shatter you like the worthless china you are."
"He's right Cups, we never should've come back, they aren't even after the people that we freed. Why do you always get us into these situations Cups!" Mugman cries angrily, "You know what, I'm not even going to try and help you this time, if you want to risk your life because you just so desperately need to be a hero again, then fine but don't expect me to save you." And with that Mugman, turned around and walked out.
"Well, Cupface? Are you going to listen to your brother? Or am I going to have to send you back home in a body bag?" The Devil asks as King Dice and the other workers form a half-circle behind the Devil, to menace the poor little cup.
Cuphead looks between them all frantically, before deciding that it wasn't worth his life to try and stand up to someone who simply would never die and without Mugman and his powers, he was screwed. He sighed and turned, quickly running out, in case the Devil changed his mind and killed him.
The Devil sighs, "Stupid cups, I can't believe they actually thought we wouldn't reopen the casino."
King Dice put a comforting arm around the Devil, "They're just stupid little kids boss, that Cupface has the worst hero complex I've ever seen. But if they are botherin' you, now that they're powerless, we could-"
"No Dice, it's fine, without their powers, those two aren't stupid enough to come back. And if they do, I expect you to deal with them, or are you unable to win a fight against regular old children?" The Devil said, pissed off.
"Of course I can handle 'em boss. They only beat me because of their powers. They're easy targets now. Don't you underestimate me because that's the only fight under you that I've lost." Dice said angrily, "Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go make sure none of the guests are too spooked because of those two." And with that, Dice sauntered away going to check on the guests. The other workers followed suit, going back to their respective posts.
The Devil watched as they all left. And then he left, going back to his office, once inside he sighed, "Stupid, you pissed off Dice again you stupid Devil, he'll never agree to date you if you keep this up." He poured himself a glass of DemonBurban, downing it easily, he knew Dice would come in if he called him but he decided it would be better to wait a little while so that way Dice could blow off some steam. He hadn't meant to upset Dice but seeing those arrogant cups had pissed him off, and as usual, he took it out on the one person he was close to, the only mortal who had ever managed to sneak his way into his heart, which he was surprised that he even had a heart. He wished he wasn't so cruel to the poor Dice, he always tried his best to be somewhat nicer to him but of course, when his temper got the better of him he couldn't help it. Bloody tears welled up in his eyes, he figured no one would come in and see him so he let them fall, sobbing quietly and feeling bad for himself.
Dice on the other hand, though a bit annoyed, was not really mad at the Devil, he had a right to be concerned if he could defeat the cup brothers but at the same time, they had no powers and of course Dice could handle a couple of children. He felt slightly insulted by his boss thinking so low of him. He finally finished checking on all the guests and calming down the shaken crew. Then he went up to the Devil's office, knocking on the door, "Boss? May I come in?"
The Devil sniffles, "Y-yeah, come on in Dice."
Dice opens the door and approaches his boss after closing the door behind him. He gently hugs the Devil, who immediately hugs back, burying his face into Dice's chest. "Hey, Hey it's alright boss. Those pesky cups won't bother us anymore. And if they try to I'll shatter 'em. You have nothin' to worry about."
"I'm not worried about them Dice, I don't care, I know they couldn't beat us now." The said, through his sniffling as he began to calm down
"Then what's got you so worked up boss?" Dice asked softly, resisting the urge to run his hand through his fur.
"I don't wanna talk about it." The Devil replied, "Can you just stay with me for a while?"
"Are you askin' or is it an order?"
"Asking. I know you still have to help run the Casino."
"I suppose I can spare a few minutes for you. Everythin' has settled down now, so things should be okay for a while." Dice replies, starting to pet the Devil's fur. And to his surprise, the Devil started to purr, keeping a tight grasp on King Dice and well, Dice couldn't help but smile at that.
