“Dylan! Your father and I are going to the movies tonight. James is staying over his friend’s house for the night so please make sure to take care of Brianna while we are out! Thank you sweetie! We should be home around 11:30. Love you both!” I heard my mom yell as I was lying in my bed.
“OK! Leave money for food for us!!!!” I shouted back in response.
Brianna quickly came running to my room and hopped up and down on my bed once again; that was kind of her thing.
“I know you’re not gonna do that for the next couple of hours.” I said to her sarcastically. I don’t know why but my baby sister brought out the cynical side of me.
“Aw come on Dilly!!!!”
“Oh God no I hate being called that!”
“But big brother!!! Come on now!”
“Alright let’s go watch TV in the living room I guess.” I would do anything to put an end to her endless whining.
“Ok!!!” she raced downstairs to jump on the couch. She was so hyper it’s as if she drank a cup of coffee with 4 shots of espresso in it while drinking it through a pixie stick.
She didn’t waste any time taking the remote and putting on an episode of Strawberry Shortcake. I rolled my eyes almost immediately.
“Bri, if we’re gonna watch something please let it not be this!!!” I heard myself whining. Maybe whining runs in the family.“No I wanna watch!!! Go make dinner!”
“I’m not making anything! Mom and Dad left us money to order something.” My patience was wearing out only 5 minutes in.
“Make me mac and cheese!!!” her eyes lit up.
“Ah alright.” I agreed so I could pocket the money and make her stay quiet for just a little while.
As I went over to the stove to prepare Bri her mac and cheese I felt my phone vibrate. It was Noah.
“Hey there player! I saw you shacking up with some dude the other night at the party!!! Awesome, now maybe you can spread the wealth and maybe help me meet someone?” I blushed upon reading his text. I hate that people know about my fling with Robbie. I didn’t want to get a bad reputation.
“Haha oh god, you saw that? How embarrassing…well I can try to set you up but I can’t make you any guarantees. You also have to put yourself out there if you wanna meet somebody” I texted back. I was horrible with giving people this kind of advice. I am no expert in the romantic department.
“I guess you’re right dude, but I do appreciate you making an effort on my behalf! Hey, are you doing anything tonight? I’m pretty bored and thought maybe we could chill or something.”
“Uh…I’m babysitting my little sister but she usually falls asleep before 9 and my parents won’t be home til close to midnight so you can come over at 9 and we can watch Netflix or play videogames.”
