Chapter 11: Family Bonds
No...it can't be true. I refuse to even believe it. I found myself dropping my phone as I heard my classmate's horrid gossip about Reese. That's all it is, right? Just gossip.....right?
I regained my composure and casually walked into the building hurrying off to class trying to forget what I had just heard. Why did I even care though? He's not my boyfriend or anything. He's nothing to me and yet I act as if he's mine. He's nothing more than just a crush. What's going on with me? This isn't normal for me. I don't usually get so caught up by news like this, especially over someone I barely know.
I walked into class still feeling uneasy. Reese walked in seconds after. He walked over to me and sat with me. I couldn't bear to look at him. Just the idea of those rumors being true makes my stomach turn. I was silently judging him based on something that I didn't even know to be the truth, and I felt terrible about it.
I look up at him and I see him playing some game on his phone. He looks so content just sitting there. How cute he is...no no no! I had to stop looking at him as if he were mine. I need to get a hold back on reality. If this rumor is true then I cannot possibly even think to continue trying to pursue Reese.
Professor Stevenson walked in and took his typical guru pose.
"Your partner sessions shall now begin" he said with such tranquility. He brought in a mini-gong with him and he struck it slightly, making it bellow out.
I looked at Reese as he began talking about my story.
"I thought your story was nice. A little bit too typically romantic for me, but it was well written and...yeah. But like I said I think it was a little bit predictable. Your writing style is nice though." he said abruptly.
"Ahaha thank you Reese!" even though my mind was still reeling from the rumors I couldn't help but crack a goofy smile at the thought of him reading one of MY stories.
"I-I thought yours was really incredible Reese!" I see him turn his head and look down with a hint of blush on his cheeks. "You are truly a skilled writer. Your writing is truly captivating beyond words and you inspired me a lot! You should be very proud of yourself for this story! It really captured a lot of emotions for me" I caught myself smiling so embarrassingly. I could compliment him all day.
He turned to look at me with his cheeks all blush and simply says "Thank you. That is nice of you."
"Thank you for sharing your story with me!"
"It's not like I had a choice" his words stung me.
I couldn't help but roll my eyes. He caught me doing it.
"Oh no don't take it like that. I mean I'm glad you liked it but I probably wouldn't have shared it with you if I didn't have to that's all. I keep all my writings to myself. You're the first one to ever read anything I've written" he says as he turns his head away.
