Laila's POV

Graduation is in two weeks and Prom is this Saturday. I haven't decided if I'm going to go or not yet. Alexis is going with Kian and all of his friends, including Sam. Great. We sort of ended things badly.

Jacob asked me if I wanted to go, but I want just want to stay home. My mom took me to some doctor and he declared that I have a case of minor depression, and that getting out and doing stuff should help me get out of my funk.

Alexis and I are dress shopping for her dress, but she wont stop pressuring me to try on dresses. I found one that I liked, but I don't want to go.

"Laila, this is your last prom. Can you at least think about it? Please." She pushes me.

"No I'm just going to go stay home, hangout with mom, you know my usaual Saturday night." I shrug.

"Well I was hoping you would say yes, I have to make a phone call." She walks away. Then comes running back a few minuets later. "Come here!" she runs, clacking her heels up and down. She pulls me out the door, still wearing a dress.

"Alexis! You have to pay for that!" she shushs me. She finally stops running, and turns me to my right. I see Jacob getting out of his car, holding flowers. He smiles walking towards me.

"Laila... I don't care what you say." He pauses and pulls out an envelope. "I have thess-" He pulls out tickets, "I don't have anyone to go with, so I was wondering, well I wasn't wondering, I want you to come with me." He smiles.

I smile, knowing I can't say no to him, not that I want to say no either.

"Well?" He askes nervously.

"I don't have anything to wear." He laughs. "Oh Hey! Look at that, I just so happen to be at a dress store!" His eyes light up and he runs to me. He opens his arms and picks me up.

"You're something else kid. You know that?" I nod and he kisses my cheek.

"You're amazing Jacob! Thank you. I'm sorry to cut this short, but I'm almost 100 percent Alexis has already picked out a million dresses. I'll see you tonight." I let go of his hand and scurry inside.

My mood changes quickly when I see Emily at the front desk picking up her dress. She sees me and smiles. I stand frozen, why am I so nervous to talk to her?

"Hey girly! Here to get your dress?" I smile and nod. "Who you going with?" She nudges me.

"Uh, My friend Jacob. Maybe you've met him? And you?" Her face drops.

"Sam's friend?" I nod. "Wow! Cool." What was that.

I go back to my question. "And you?"

"Oh, I thought you knew. I'm going with Sam." Oh.

"That's great! You two have fun." I say walking away. She nods and leaves.

Once I get out of that awkward thing, I find Alexis. "Hey!" she turns to look at me.

"Laila, so I was thinking, I looked at all the dresses and thought the only one that did you justice was the one you had your eye on. So, I think you should get that one and tomrrow we can go get some shoes!" she rambles.

"Good idea! Lets get out if here!" Once we pay for our dresses, we get some food and I drop her off at home. "Tell mom I'm going to Jacob's house, I'll be home late. Don't wait up." She puts her head down.
