Too Good To Be True (Kihyun)

After knowing Son Hyunwoo for a week, I already felt like he was the closest person to me. I felt good around him and we did so much together. I considered the possibility that maybe God didn't hate me, maybe he gave me Hyunwoo so I'd be happy.

I basically worked for Hyunwoo, I did all the church work he asked me to and thankfully we did most of it together, he rarely let me work alone, only when strictly necessary. We worked on planning church events, charity events, services and more but the work that took most of our time was paperwork, financial work, on the things spent by the youth group or services that we'd need to hire, inventory of everything we used at church, the amount of time we used the temple or auditorium to keep tabs on the amount of water and light we used, things like that.

We shouldn't have been doing all that work since we were so young but since a lot of people had left the church because of a corruption scandal, we were the only people left to do it. Administrative church work is hard work. But the good thing about paperwork is that we got to do it at his office, just the two of us, eating together, chatting together, being together, I didn't need an excuse to spend time with him, being in that office was my safe place.

Almost every time we got to the office door, Hyunwoo said he had forgotten his keys and went back to his car to get it. Sometimes I asked about the keys when we were in the car, he said it was in his pocket and when we got to the office door, the key was not in his pocket. He always forgot the keys. I got sick of it after over a month. I used it as an excuse to buy him a gift without feeling awkward about it because we hadn't known each other for long.

I told him to meet me at his office instead of picking me up from school so I had the time to buy the gift. When I got there, he was waiting by the door on his phone, leaning against the wall. He looked really good with his button up white shirt, sleeves rolled up, way too many buttons unbuttoned, a hand in his pocket, he was so cool.

I slowly walked through the hallway, towards him, holding the gift behind my back with two hands, hoping he would notice my presence before I got to him and he did. He pocketed his phone and smiled at me.

"Was about to call you." Hyunwoo said with a subtle smile. "Thought you got lost."

I scoffed. "I've been in this city for over a month, I know my way around, don't you worry."

He shrugged, smiling then looked at my arms, probably noticing I was hiding something behind my back. "What's that?" He asks.

"I got you a gift." I told him.

His smile widened, just enough to make his eyes look slightly smaller, he looked excited and so fucking adorable. "Really?" He asked in almost a whisper.

I nodded, feeling a bit breathless. I was always breathless around him but since the first week I've been here, I didn't feel nervous around him, I've felt calm actually, but then I felt a bit nervous. I feared he'd hate the gift or find it silly. "I found this in storage." I pointed at the console by his door, holding the gift behind my back with one hand. He looked at the simple black console by his door then looked at me again, smiling. "I brought it here last night."

"You found this through all that junk?" He asked, sounding surprised.

"Yeah, I... I tried to buy a new one but it was kind of expensive and I didn't want to have to explain to my mom and make her wonder—"

"You didn't have to buy anything, Hyunie." He said, with a gentle smile. I go crazy when he calls me by that nickname.

"I-I wanted to." My heart was racing. "It's a..." I bite my lip, taking a deep breath. "It's a really special gift, you have to take good care of it, okay?"
