Katie dearest,

Picture this: it's a sunny Saturday morning and you wake up to the smell of bacon and coffee grounds. You hear fits of giggles and feel the familiar urge to join in before you even know why the laughter was initiated in the first place. You walk from your bedroom into the kitchen of our cozy farmhouse to behold a sight that can only make you smile - the rest of your family in a happy mess of pancake batter and clanging dishes, preparing an impromptu spread. You kiss me on the cheek, briefly, because your youngest child is trying to fiddle with the silverware and drops it all. In this joyful chaos, you feel a warm glow; you are finally at peace, finally content.

Finally home.

Can you picture it? Can you picture the mundane moments, the exciting adventures, the blessings in store? Because I can. And you know what? Every time I think about my future, you're in it, Katie-kat.

Someday, if this works out, the distance will shrink from across the way to just seconds. I'll get to wake up and see your gorgeous face, I'll get to kiss you at the end of the day, I'll get to slow-dance with you in our kitchen at midnight to the light of the fridge. The small things that would be different with you than anyone else.

And, I don't know about you, but that's all very much worth the wait to me.

I love you endlessly,

- T
