Chance Encounter

   Twenty four year old Police Officer Chen Yu is being shoved back down on a gurney in the local hospital's E.R. for the third time. His short black hair is a bit spiky, due him repeatedly running a frustrated hand through it. His large brown eyes shoot his partner a murderous look from under his thick lashes. A low growl escapes his full pouty lips, as he pulls them back in a sneer. His prominent Adam's apple bobs in utter frustration.

"I told you, it's just a scratch. That perp didn't know how to handle a blade." Chen Yu says, as he once again begins to rise.

"Are you crazy or just plain stupid? He took a chunk clean outta you before you managed to unarm him!" His partner Wu Zhen Feng says, gently shoving his shoulder. "You're probably going to need a couple dozen stitches!"

   Just then the curtain is pulled back and a tall, strikingly handsome man walks in. His dark brown eyes are soft and gentle looking. He has a genuine smile on his lips and it draws Chen Yu's attention to a small mole just under his bottom lip.

"I'm Dr. Gu, I'll have you patched up and back to protecting the city in no time Officer..." He says, as he approaches the gurney.

"Chen, Chen Yu." He swallows hard and Dr. Gu cocks his head to the side as he is captivated by the alluring bob of the Officer's larynx as he once again swallows, hard. Chen Yu looks at Wu Zhen Feng and whispers, "I suppose I could use a stitch or two."

   Officer Wu just blinks a couple of times and then steps back, so the doctor can attend to his partner.

"I'm sorry to say, you're going to need more than one or two. First, I'll clean this up for you, then we'll find out just how many stitches you need." Dr. Gu says with a wink as he starts to roll up Chen Yu's t-shirt sleeve. He stops to look at an old scar on the young mans bicep, just above this new gash. One look and he can tell that it wasn't a professional closure. "Hmm, what happened here, you stitch it up yourself?" He asks joking, as he begins to clean the new wound.

"Mmhm." Chen Yu answers with little more than a wrinkle of his nose. "Like I told my Mom over there, it's just a scratch. I can take care of it myself."

"If this is considered a 'scratch', I'd hate to see what you'd consider a bad wound Officer." Dr. Gu says with a look of concern on his handsome face. He notices Chen Yu pull back a bit as he reaches for a syringe. "It's a local anesthetic, to numb the area before I start stitching you up." He says with a gentle smile.

"No need Doc. Just patch me up... I, I don't like that type of needle." Chen Yu says, as he pales noticeably.

"He's kidding, right?" The doctor asks Officer Wu perplexed.

"No Doc, he's not kidding. This kid is tough as nails, but afraid of getting a shot. Hell, he's been shot and complained less then than he did getting a tetanus shot." Wu Zhen Feng says mocking Chen Yu and moving out of reach, just in case he retaliates.

"Alright, but if the pain is to much, speak up and I'll administer the anesthetic." Dr. Gu gives a look of unwillingness, before he begins to gently suture Chen Yu's arm.

   Chen Yu glances at the Doctors long, thin fingers on his arm and suddenly feels his face turn hot. He quickly looks away, but not for long. He begins to stare at the Doctors face, but as soon as his gaze lands on those provocative slightly pursed lips he has to look away again.

"18." Dr. Gu announces, as he finishes the final suture. "You have 18 stitches Officer. I assume, since you appear no stranger to this type of injury, you know how to care for your wound?" He pauses as he awaits an answer. After a nod from the young officer, he continues. "Alright. I'll want to see you back here in three weeks to have the stitches removed. In the meantime, I'll write you a prescription for a painkiller. No injections required." He says with a smile. "You can make an appointment to come back and see me at the front desk." Dr. Gu says with a sexy grin. He hasn't even realized that he has his hand resting on Chen Yu's upper thigh.
