The Cop and the Gangster

   Gu Wei throws his briefs on and heads for the bedroom door, leaving Chen Yu laying on the bed still holding the blindfold.

"Come on Yu'er, I'll heat up dinner and you can tell me about your day. It might help you to relax baobei." Gu Wei says, just before exiting the room.

"Trust me Doc, I'm quite relaxed right now." He calls to the kitchen, as he gets up and searches for his boxers. As he remembers they're in the bathroom, he hears Guy Wei's chuckle from the other room.

   Chen Yu enters the kitchen with a smile, as he watches Gu Wei heat up a stir fry on the stove.

"Mmm, didn't we talk about you wearing only the apron when you're cooking baobei?" Chen Yu asks, moving to the fridge.

"This is reheating, not actually cooking. Grab the wine and pour us each a glass, this is ready now. I'll bring the plates to the table in a minute." He says, as he plates their dinner.

   Chen Yu takes the wine and glasses to the table and sets them down. Then he see's the box and remembers his gift. He leaves it sitting next to Gu Wei's seat and takes his own. As Gu Wei reaches the table, he pauses before setting the dishes down.

"Yu'er, what's this?" He asks, sitting down and cocking his head to the side.

"Well, it is our anniversary and I kept you waiting. I'm sorry." Chen Yu's brows furrow slightly.

"Baobei, it's a one week anniversary. Who actually celebrates that? I just wanted an excuse to make you dinner and spend some time with you." Gu Wei says, the look on his face is so full of love at Chen Yu's gesture of affection.

"Ahh, well... that's a relief. I had no idea what I was supposed to do!" Chen Yu laughs. "Anyway, open it up and see if you like them. I'll grab a vase, under the sink right?" He says, rising and heading towards the kitchen, as Gu Wei unties the pretty red ribbon from the box. As Chen Yu fills a vase with water, he hears Guys Wei's gasp and wonders if he made a mistake.

"Yu'er, they're beautiful! Baobei, you really shouldn't have, I was just teasing you about the whole anniversary thing." Gu Wei says looking from Chen Yu, to the two dozen long stem red roses surrounded by a sprinkling of baby's breath.

"Doc, I take everything you say seriously. I just hope you like them, here baobei. They need water." He says, setting the vase on the table, before kneeling next to Gu Wei. He places one hand on Gu Wei's thigh and takes his hand in the other. He kisses the Doctor's wrist and then the back of his hand. Gu Wei sighs contentedly.

"I love them baobei, thank you." Gu Wei caresses Chen Yu's cheek, then leans down to tenderly kiss his lips. "Yu'er! Oh my God, I'm so sorry baobei!!" Gu Wei is panicked, as he notices red marks marring Chen Yu's wrists. Tears begin to swim in his eyes, as he realizes that he's the cause.

"It's alright, I didn't even notice it baobei. It's okay, really. Besides, if I hadn't been so desperate to touch you, it wouldn't have happened. It's my own fault for struggling so hard. I'm fine." Chen Yu assures, as he gently rubs a tear from Gu Wei's cheek.

"Mmm, we should eat while it's still warm. I'll thank you and apologize properly later." He winks, as Chen Yu rises to quickly arrange the flowers into the vase.

"Mmhm, I'll hold you to that Doc." He says sitting down and raising his glass. "Happy anniversary baobei." He clinks his glass against Gu Wei's and they both chuckle.

   After dinner, Chen Yu begins to tell Gu Wei a little about how his day went and the direction the case is taking. Gu Wei is shocked by what he hears.
