I scrambled to the edge of the pool, I had moved away when the chemicals were thrown in. That would be disastrous. I didn't know what any of the chemicals were used for but after seeing the fish transform into two Sirenneyets. I didn't want to touch anything the ingredients touched. It could destroy the entire ocean if it got through the gates. That wasn't at all my highest priority right now. Mele had helped me so much, I had grown to care for her. My brother would be fine, I couldn't believe that had happened to him. Thoughts were jumbled in my mind yet I acted as quickly as I could.

I saw Mele's father rushing back to his weapon and attempting to fire into the water again. I couldn't see if it hit or injured Turin. All I could see was the different coloured hues which covered the water like a film of oil. I narrowed my eyes in hopes to see her. I could see the water moving but there was no sign of Turin or Mele.

My father put a hand on my shoulder but I shrugged him off. He wouldn't understand. He probably didn't know why I was worried. Mele had tried to help me, she was willing to give up her voice. She came to see the Aquayge with me and it was entirely my fault if anything bad happened to her.

I was looking into the water, I had to blink several times at the next events. I could see the colours on top of the water but there seemed to be something in the middle. The colours were beginning to spin slowly. It then increased in speed. I was rather scared, I didn't know what was happening. The water was becoming clear in the middle of the pool. In the middle of the clear water, Mele floated with a grin on her face. She waved at us and covered her mouth with a concerned look.

I wasted no time diving in after her. From there I could see that there was a path. It was as though the ocean had become dark and there was one single illuminated path. I turned around to see my father looking down on us. I waved for him to follow. I didn't know if Mele's father was going to be joining us this way or if my family was talking to him. However, I knew that we would probably feel a lot more comfortable outside of Turin's cave.

I was quick to swim to Mele and grab her hand, pulling her towards the light which I could see. It was where we came from. I felt the water move behind me and assumed that the others had jumped in as well. It was as though we jumped into a whirlpool. It didn't take us long to get into brighter and cleaner waters. I had to look back for a moment to see where the colours had reached. I was surprised to see that it stopped.

I gave the others a confused expression but I had to swim on. Mele really needed to get back to land. It didn't take me long to get to the top of the water where Mele could take in some deep breaths of air. I tried my best to support her as she took a moment. I saw her father come up for air not long after. I always found it strange how humans needed air.

I gestured towards where the land was so that we could let Mele and her father rest there whilst we tended to Kano. I could tell that my father was able to manage Kano, my father was extremely strong. Once Mele was safe I swam back to help my father make sure Kano was alright. He was still gushing acidic blood which didn't really affect my father and myself. It was a mechanism to make other creatures get out of the sea.

"Ula, go and grab some seaweed so that we can wrap his tail." I nodded towards my father and swam down to the bottom of the sea where I knew the seaweed to be. I knew the ocean like the back of my hand. I gathered enough seaweed for the injury and swam back to the pair. "Thank you."

I knew that my father didn't like to be disturbed when he was working. I thought that it would be a better decision to check on the two humans. Garrett and Mele sat on the piece of land. They weren't looking at each other. Garrett stared at his hands in disbelief whilst Mele's eyes were focused on the water. I rose so that only my eyes were above water level. She jumped back a little, startled at my appearance. I smiled slightly and moved closer but not too close.

I was still unsure about how hostile Garrett was towards my kind. Mele gave me a slight wave which I copied. I minimised my actions as to not draw too much attention. I swayed in the water, not knowing what to do. "I'm sorry Mele." Garrett said in a hushed voice. I ducked under the water again, giving them some space.

I was floating in the water watching my father help my brother. I couldn't believe that both of them were here. The realization that they didn't leave me still hadn't hit me too hard. I'd give myself an hour or two before I started to comprehend what happened and start to get emotional.

We were all safe.
