10. Sahara Desert

What are we?

I wonder,

We are phenomenal,

Yet egotistical creatures,

Kind,

Yet cruel beings,

Joyous,

Yet downhearted mortals,

We are humans.

We are vulnerable and fragile,

We are made of glass,

We easily shatter,

By insignificant and fierce words,

We can be so crass.

We are imperfect individuals,

We have flaws,

Yet we like to specify someone's errors,

With our razor-sharp claws.

We are wrong when we are right,

We are misjudged when we are judged,

We are traitors when we fight,

Each one of us has an alter ego,

We have ulterier motives when we are polite.

In our hearts sparks a glitter of innocence,

And the iniquity overpowers it,

Filling us with distaste and arrogance,

Emotion is the mastermind,

It changes our souls in an instance.

We find pleasure in fallacious places,

And we don't feel guilt or remorse,

We cover up with our many faces,

The ones with purity are scarce,

We are the Sahara desert to their oasis.

We are our own priority,

We push our loved ones away,

And we ignore our own adversity,

We are broken, and we are frightened,

We fight back with ferocity,

We value things more than our own kind,

And we treat each other with inequality.

We are so intelligent,

Yet so mindless,

We are thoughtful,

Yet so careless,

We speak many words,

Yet they are meaningless,

We have eyes to seek,

Yet we are sightless,

We have hearts to feel,

Yet we are spiritless.

We have hope,

Yet we are faithless,

I can go on,

Yet the list seems endless.
