CHAPTER TWENTY-FOUR!
- endless her

"M-My daughter is dead"

HARRY POTTER HAD WATCHED AS VALERIE LUPIN-BLACK AND ONYX MELTED INTO DUST. All around him, people who were previously dead began to wake up. The monsters sunk back into the ground. Broken bits of Hogwarts get rebuilt from nothingness. It seemed like a scene from a muggle movie.

No one seemed to remember where they were at or the events that had just taken place. Everyone seemed confused and lost. Hermione rubbed her head as if she had a horrible headache. "Valerie..." Harry whispered, looking at the place he last saw her. He was lost in so many ways. He felt like a bit of him was missing. One of the sides of a puzzle piece is broken off and glued back together.

The problem was, Harry was never meant to remember the feeling of Valerie's lips on his own. He wasn't meant to feel this horrible seeing her turn to dust. He was meant to have the same memory of every other person there. To them, Valerie's sacrifice was nothing. She was the only one who died during the battle.

To them, Valerie had never given up. Valerie had never sacrificed herself for everyone at Hogwarts and the building itself. Onyx was no fool; he would never let Valerie get the full deal. Her tribute was meant to be forgotten in the sea. However, Onyx never expected Valerie to be one that would clear minds.

Harry was not meant to remember. Yet, he remembered Onyx's words as he took Valerie. He remembered the look on her face he had never seen before. Valerie had given up and Harry couldn't do anything about it. His breath came out shaky as he looked around. "Everyone's coming back to life!" Ron gasped as he too looked around.

"This is impossible," Sirius muttered to himself. "What happened? There was a battle and then-"

"Valerie sacrificed herself," Harry said, staring at the spot in the middle of the courtyard. "She gave up."

James shook his head. His eyes wandering around his son oddly. "Harry, Valerie didn't sacrifice herself. What are you talking about? She's probably just in the great hall. Remus is in there, right?"

The messy-haired boy simply looked at them, "You don't remember? S-She told Onyx she would join him if he brought everyone back to life. You have to be joking! You have to remember." He ushered.

Everyone around them was cheering, hugging their loved ones who mysteriously came back to life. None of them even thinking about how they were given a second chance solely because they were so felicitous at that moment. Maybe in a few days, they would begin to wonder how people had come back to life when it was meant to be impossible. Questions would be asked, investigations made, and the whole time Harry would be the only one who remembered.
