after the chaos of the day before, everything felt boring. jihye wasn't traumatized as people would expect. yes, maybe she was for a good hour last night but no longer as she found herself more curious about this secret society.
she didn't dare to tell mihi, especially with how taeyong called it a secret. was she supposed to forget the events of last night? she could only wonder as she took a break, staring out into the city view.
it was again almost time to leave the office. this time, she swore to leave early to avoid the dangers that she now knew of.
"jihye, are you staying again?" mihi asked as she began shutting down her laptop.
the girl shook her head without much thought. even if she was inquisitive, she didn't want to die at the young age of 24, so soon in her life. yes, maybe it was boring, but dying with around 60 years left to live was a loss. she didn't know if those years left contained a chance of her life-changing around.
her friend gave her a sweet grin, "let's go then."
"do you want to go to dinner together?" jihye suggested as they began to make their way through the crowd of leaving workers towards the elevator.
mihi shook her head, a sincere apology leaving her lips. maybe it was an excuse but it was ok, "there's just quite a bit lately to finish."
"yeah, there is. I only slept an hour last night," jihye spoke to the black-haired girl.
she didn't need to point it out as mihi had seen the dark circles underneath her eyes the moment she had walked into the workplace. the way she had no makeup on and was constantly rubbing her eyes told mihi everything she needed to know.
"it's been quite a long day, you know," mihi breathed a sigh as if she was trying to relax everything.
jihye could only laugh awkwardly at mihi's comment. anybody could tell her laugh wasn't genuine at all. every day was like that. it felt long, like 24 hours doing nothing.
it took about 30 minutes for jihye to walk home, mihi's home was around 10 minutes in. her apartment building was a typical one. a tall white architecture, coordinated windows everywhere on the surface. the door was a glass one, a card required to open the door.
yet a familiar person stood in front of this door, seemingly expecting her.
