And That's When It Happened

Kankri's POV

The past few weeks went by really quickly. You hadn't seen much of Cronus except in the halls and during class. And when you did see him, he would always smile and wink at you as if to remind you of that awkward night. Tonight was the prom. You really didnt want to think much of Cronus tonight. You had to look stunning for miss Leijon. You still werent very comfortable without your contacts so you put them in and fussed with your always messy hair. You wore a simple suit with a bright red tie. you straightened your tie and sighed. "Hurry up Kanny! Meulin and Kurloz aren't go+ing to+ wait fo+rever!!!" you heard Porrim screech from outside your closet. Why Porrim decided Kurloz would be a good date to prom you would never know. But you knew you had feelings for Meulin for years. If tonight went well... you couldnt even imagine what it would be like to date her. She was flashy, bold, daring, and she never takes no for an answer. Everyone thought she was pretty weird but you admired her. She is always confident and she even befriended the scariest kid in school!!! She was strong and confident, and you were not. You sort of looked up to her in a way. You could hear Porrim tapping her foot against the carpet so you rushed out the door.

~Half An Hour Later~

The four of you were standing in the school gymnasium that had been decorated with lots of mirrors and sparkles. The theme was "Galactic Getaway" and it certaintly felt as if you were standing on some intergalactic planet. Props to the decoration commitee (More Like Porrim) Meulin tugged on your arm. ":3<Come on Kankitty let's go dance!!!" she squeeled. you smiled and took her onto the dancefloor. it was very crowded and you couldnt see anyone. You took Meulin's hand and began to waltz. The music was perfect for waltzing and to be honest, you didnt really know any other partner dances. You both fell into the music and smiled at each other. ":3<Oh Kankitty you dance beautifully!!!" she exclaimed. You blushed. "Y9ur n9t s9 bad y9urself...." you whispered to her. she blushed as well. just then you bumped into someone. "My ap9l9gize I was n9t-" you began. but as you looked up, you saw it was Cronus. He was with Aranea. Of course. They also had been waltzing and didnt see you either. "Hello Kankri! Hello Meulin! Aren't the decorations just splendid!" Aranea smiled. you and Meulin nodded. You both werent really sure what to say. Meulin never liked what the popular kids did to you. In fact she had her own disputes with them in her attempts to try and stand up for you. it was a thing of the past but you knew she never really got over it. You looked at Cronus nervously. Your heart was beating right out of your chest. He was also wearing a suit but instead of a bowtie or a tie, he had unbuttoned his purple dress-shirt a bit to frame the collar of his Jacket . He caught you staring so you looked away. "C9me 9n Meulin let's keep dancing..." you said as you formed your waltzing positions and kept on. you danced for a good hour or so until you huffed out of exhaustion. "h9w ab9ut I g9 get us s9mething t9 drink?' you asked with a smile. she smiled back and nodded as you went over to the refreshments table. as you were pouring your drinks, Cronus walked up behind you and tapped your shoulder. "Hey Cheif can I talk to ya for a second?" he asked. you sighed. "Make it quick Meulin is waiting f9r me" you said as you turned to look at him. He sighed as well. "Okay so... I'vwe been thinking about the other night and um I dont exactly knovw hovw to say this but um...." "H3Y K4NKR1!!!! 1SNT TH1S P4RTY R4D1CAL?!?!?" You heard a familiar voice behind you screech. you turned to see Latula Pyrope on the other side of the refreshments table. you smiled and nodded. Latula was your first girlfriend back in kindergarten before Mituna moved to town. They were both super nice to you but they never tried to stand in the way of the popular kids. They were too scared they would ruin their "radical" image. Cronus sighed and walked away. You werent quite sure what he had wanted to say but it must have been important. You waved to Latula as you hurried to go deliver Meulin her drink. ":3<You were gone quite an awfurrlly long time... did something happen???" Meulin asked curiously as you handed her the drink. you smiled and shook your head. "N9 I was just speaking t9 Cr9nus and Latula. I must have g9tten sidetracked." you explained. she pursed her lips together. ":3<I dont mean to intrude on your purrrsonal life Kankri, but there are quite a few rumors spreading about you and Cronus...." she began. you placed and finger to her lips and smiled. "Meulin I can garuntee that there is n9thing g9ing 9n between myself and Mr. Amp9ra. What y9u have heard are all just silly little rum9rs. they mean n9thing. and besides, If there was anything g9ing 9n between us, Y9u and P9rrim w9uld be the first 9nes t9 kn9w!" you assured her. You removed your finger from her lips and she sighed. ":3<Okay but.... I still have a really bad feeling about him..." she said gently. your pulled her into a hug and smiled. "Relax Meulin, I'm a big b9y. I can handle myself." you said with a smile. "Aww well arent yo+u two+ just the cutest things!" you heard Porrim say from behind you. you let go of Meulin and you both blushed. You werent going to lie, Meulin was adorable. She was wearing a short, olive-green puffy dress with lots of sparkles and she had her hair up in pigtails. while Porrim looked ravishing in her long, flowy jade-green gown complete with high heels and her hair in a fashionable up-do. Kurloz was beside her in a dashing (yet quite intimidating) princely uniform. Porrim must have helped him pick it out because there was no way he had chosen that outfit on his own. Just then, a familiar song played. it was Born To Hand Jive by Sha-Na-Na. you didnt listen to 50's music much but you had watched the movie Grease. You saw Cronus jumping around in excitement from across the room and you sighed. You wondered if it would be weird to ask him to dance. You shook the thought away quickly as Cronus grabbed Aranea's hand and pulled her onto the dancefloor. You watched as they jived, spun, and shook their bodys in a really admirable manner. You wished you could dance like that. But then again you didnt because if you were a really good dancer, you would be known for it and you didnt wanna be known for anything. ":3<wow... their really good!!!" Meulin said in awe. you sighed and leaned back against the wall. everyone was in a big circle now watching and clapping to the beat. Fuck it was just like in the movie. Though you had to admit, Cronus and Aranea kinda looked like Danny and Sandy.... You groaned and rushed into the hallway. you needed to take a deep breath and think. Why was this such a big deal??? Could you possibly.... No thats insane! That kiss ment nothing! It was an accident! still though.... you couldnt explain your feelings any other way.... Just then Meulin raced into the hall in search for you. ":3<Kankri what's wrong??? you look unsettled..." she asked. You sighed and sat down on a bench. "Meulin y9ur g99d with feelings.... I need y9ur help with s9mething..." you huffed. she sat down beside you with a worried look and notioned for you to continue. you started fidgetting with your hands as you continued to speak. "Let's say hyp9thetically I kissed a friend. Since then, I have been beginning t9 get these.....feelings... f9r them. And n9t like "Hey I like y9u kinda feelings" m9re like, "I want y9u all to myself" kinda feelings..... What is that???" you asked. She giggled. ":3<Oh silly! Thats Love!" she said in her usual high-pitched voice. You gulped. Love. Did you love Cronus??? that was absurd. You had to forget this at all costs. you couldnt afford to love someone right now anyways what with all the drama in your life. You sighed. "Thank y9u Meulin. I appreciate the help. I'll be back inside in a minute I just need t9 clear my head first." you explained. she nodded with a smile as she bounced back into the gymnasium. You began pacing around like the frightened young man that you were. you could hear the song end and you imagined Cronus smiling and laughing with Aranea. But before you could go far with that thought, Cronus popped his head out of the gym. "Yo cheif vwhatcha doin out here???" he asked curiously. You blushed at the sight of him. "N-n9thing! just um... it was getting stuffy in there s9 I had to take a breather...." you spat out. he smiled. "Did ya see us dancin out there at least???" he snickerd. you rolled your eyes. "Yes y9u danced very well Cr9nus. Was that all???" you snapped. he walked up to you and sighed. "I never got to finish vwhat I vwas sayin earlier...." he said quietly. Oh thats right he wanted to talk to you. "Alright... s9 y9u were thinking ab9ut the 9ther night...." you began. he started shaking. "Oh right um vwell.... I vwas thinkin.... if your not busy this vweekend.... do you maybe um.... vwanna hang out??? You knovw... like... on a date or somethin....." he muttered. You couldnt belive this. he was asking you out!?!?!? "Cr9nus I have t9ld y9u before I'm n9t gay and y9u have t9ld me y9urself that y9u are n9t gay either.... S9 what is this really ab9ut???" you asked. he began to shake more rapidly. "Look.... after that night..... I..... I cant stop thinking about you.... its drivwin me nuts but I really need to start trustin my heart..... and Kankri..... Its telling me your the one.... as crazy as that sounds since ya know neither of us are gay...... but I think it might be right.... so lets just go vwith it and see vwhere it takes us! Please?" he stuttered. This... this was too much. you could feel tears falling down your cheeks. Cronus looked worried. "Oh shit babe I'm sorry did I trigger you???" he asked. you shook your head. "I... I think I l9ve y9u Cr9nus..... Meulin helped me disc9ver this actually..... we sat d9wn just n9w and talked ab9ut it..... But..... the pr9blem is I d9nt want t9 l9ve y9u! its n9thing pers9nal just.... My life is a nightmare. and I d9nt want t9 burden any9ne with my life problems..... s9 please..... just stay away from me....." you said as you rushed towards the gym. but before you could get there, Cronus grabbed your arm, pulled you back, and kissed you. You fell into the kiss quickly. it was right then and there you decided that you loved Cronus Ampora. You didnt care what Meenah and the others thought anymore. You just wanted to keep kissing him forever. but he gently pulled away. "Kankri, You wouldn't be burdening me with your problems. you would just give me more motivation to keep you by my side. so please..... can we give this a shot???" he asked. you sighed. you werent sure what to think. You had to decide again. You slowly nodded and he beamed with joy. he spun you around and Kissed you again. longer this time, but with an audience ":3<I KNEW IT!!!! EEEEEE I SHIP IT SO HARD!!!!!!!!" I'm done here!!! she hissed as she stormed off. little did the girls know you both could hear them. you just didnt care. You were happy for once. and you wanted to make this moment last forever.
