wednesday night, louis' calling harry to get ahold of mitch for an apartment. it took quite a bit of self talk and a "fuck it, yolo" from zayn when they were a tad bit wine drunk to finally make his decision.
he would need a two bedroom at least, three max if two bedrooms are unavailable. he and zayn both have savings accounts so the price wouldn't really be a problem but thankfully, harry says he can definitely work something out. louis can hear the smile on the man's face as they speak and it lifts a weight off of louis' shoulders knowing he's got an easy ride in so far.
he's quite surprised that life has been treating him well lately, because life wasn't always the best for him. his parents had a hard time coming to terms with him coming out (but got over it once they realized this was their louis, their only baby) but then they found out about his career as a stripper so they were all 3 on a rocky relationship when louis kept working at paralyzer. they knew about him and zayn moving to the states, they supported them in whatever decisions they made involving that era of their life because young adults are rebellious and have a sense of wanderlust, but the whole "my son is a stripper" thing really wasn't the best conversation starter.
then there's the whole toxic relationship ordeal, that really wasn't the best thing either.
all in all louis is just grateful for a moment of clarity for the first time in a long time because maybe los angeles will open more doors for him. maybe he can actually make something of himself. he's wanted to travel to other states as well like new york and michigan, maybe sit at a beach in florida with his toes in the sand and just forget about the world for a while. he needs to book a plane back home to england to see his parents soon.
mitch gets ahold of louis that following weekend and says the apartment will be theirs by the end of june.
it's official, they're california sold.
zayn's tickled shitless because he gets to experience another adventure with his best friend and louis wonders how he ever got so lucky to have a person like zayn in his life. they've been joined at the hip for ages now — they have walked the same fires, fought the same battles and have never given up on one another. brothers, is what they are.
well, with a twinge of "i'd date you if you weren't my best friend/brother" kind of thing.
don't speak on the molly situation.
louis has just about everything in the spare bedroom and his personal bathroom packed when his phone goes off with a text. it was his mother sending him a photo of his childhood cat named shark. he's old and fat now, still orange as ever, but louis knows his time is coming and it makes him a bit sad. he hated leaving shark behind in england but jay always made sure to send him pictures just to keep him updated on the little guy. she made sure to keep him in check, have plenty of toys, food and treats for him. every once in a while they will video chat and louis says hi to his long distanced furry friend.
the photo was of shark snoozing on louis' dad's lap while his dad was also asleep on the recliner. it was precious to louis, because at first his dad didn't like shark but now they're grumpy old men together.
he sends a heart emoticon in response with 'laddy lads' following it and grabs the tape sitting on the bathroom sink to seal the last box. they have 2 weeks to pack and apparently 2 weeks to zayn means the next 48 hours. he's always been the type to be "ahead" but in reality he procrastinates to the point the house wouldn't even be fully packed by their last night in vegas if it were up to his true persona.
speaking of him, zayn barged in his room with an idea.
"can we put a stripper pole in the new apartment? they have some at spencer's that light up and shit."
