the sound of music blaring from the kitchen caught louis' attention. emma was right there in his viewpoint so he went to her instead of following the noise. she was perched on the cat tree in the corner of the living room, six levels high for climbing and stalking and whatever else cats like to do.

"is your dad on one again today?" louis crooned as he kissed the top of her fluffy head.

emma nuzzles her face against his with a soft purr before returning to lazing about on the tree.

"where's sharknado?" he asks her. "is he sleepin'?"

shark has taken over harry's closet as his nap spot, so it wouldn't be much of a surprise if he were to find the tabby curled up behind one of the double doors.

louis gave emma a belly scratch before putting his keys on the coffee table and creeping into the kitchen. harry's back was facing him as he slid around the kitchen sockfooted, shirtless, and wearing basketball shorts. his hair was tied up in a messy bun, the windows were cracked, and he could see a tray of ready to be baked cupcakes sitting on top of the stove.

"you give me fever like i've never, ever known!" harry sang into the makeshift microphone in his hand (a broom handle of all things.)

louis cocked his hip against the doorway, watching amusedly as his partner threw the broom to the side. harry slid toward him once he spotted him. he didn't even get the opportunity to speak before harry grabbed his hand, pulling him into the kitchen.

harry made him do a twirl before pulling louis' back to his chest and pushing him out for another twirl as he continued to sing out.

"so kiss me baby and tell me twice," harry put his free hand on louis' back as he bent him backwards, a cheesy smile decorating his flushed face. "that you're the one for me."

louis giggled as he was pulled back up. harry continued to serenade him to the way you make me feel by michael jackson. they stumbled over their own two feet in the large space granted to them. laughter, stutters, and kisses were mixed in with the song as harry picked louis up and carried him to the counter without breaking a single kiss.

the stovetop beeped as a sign it was preheated, so harry popped the cupcakes in before returning to his spot between louis' dangling legs. "hi."

"hi," louis grinned. "good day?"

harry shrugged and planted his hands on either side of louis' thighs. "i'm in a cleaning mood. so i cleaned the bathrooms, our room, and now starting on the kitchen. i was gonna surprise you with cupcakes tonight but you're back already, so...surprise? they're chocolate."

cooing, the smaller man kissed his cheek. "you're the sweetest."

"think the cupcakes might actually be sweeter. they're homemade and i kinda sorta accidentally put extra sugar in them but we're not gonna talk about that."

"what were we talking about again?"

"i dunno. all i remember today is waking up with emma playing with my hair. after that i couldn't even tell you."

louis' eyes widened. "emma was playing with your hair?"

harry lifted his hand to softly swipe and pat the side of louis' head with his fingertips. "just like that."
