Depression is something that you don't know you have until you realize the world lost its color and days are filled with sadness and pain. If you realize you have depression then I recommend either seeing a psychiatrist or venting your feelings out to someone immediately.
Being depressed can become a part of you permanently so if you know someone who is depressed, it's best to try and get rid of it now or else things will never fully get better.
No one is going to magically pop up and pull you out of that dark pit unless you have a really good friend or person in your life who knows how to make those bad days into good ones.
If you have a friend who you know is your true friend, then please, open up to them and try to get them to be there for you because being alone with your thoughts is just dangerous.
For those people who aren't depressed and know someone who is, you know what to do (be there for them duh) and don't act like you're there for them and then when they need you or call you to rant, you're nowhere to be found.
Actually be a good friend who is dedicated to helping the person who you care about, please. Depression is not a joke and I feel like more people need to be aware of how quickly you can lose someone when they take their life or they suddenly change because of it.
Really take a moment to think about how it would feel to lose someone you love because you weren't there for them or you didn't notice something was wrong quick enough.
Doesn't feel nice, does it?
That's why you NEED to be supportive of someone who is depressed... even if you think your support won't make a difference or you're not good at comforting, please still TRY because effort counts too.
Got a question or specific scenario you need advice on?
Comment your question/problem and I'll try thinking of an effective solution! Don't be afraid to comment or message me in private since I'm actually really supportive and won't judge at all!
