Over the past few days, Niccolo had received a couple more letters from his family. However, there were no more from his father, they were all from his mother and brother. He was pleased to know that they were doing well, and of course still cared about them, but he wasn't willing to give up Sasha just to please them. His mother and brother still didn't know, but he assumed they'd have a similar reaction to his father. All the letters they sent him consisted of information about what had happened in Marley, among other things. His family had moved from Liberio to a more rural area near the West to try and avoid the current situation. For the most part, they were fine.
Niccolo sighed, and slowly began to feel his eyelids become heavy. He started to slouch forward, and gave a small yawn. He was ready to drift off, before a small tug on his shirt brought him out of his thoughts and sleepy state. Niccolo looked down, to be greeted with a pair of greenish-brown eyes staring up at him. It was Falco."Niccolo, I need to go pee," the boy whispered quietly. Niccolo pointed to where the toilet was located, and Falco got up and ran off. Niccolo rested his head on his fist, and looked around, remembering where and what he was here for. After Gabi and Falco were questioned, Sasha had insisted that the kids were taken out of prison, but they still had to be guarded. So Sasha somehow convinced Niccolo to help her take care of them, before they could send them to Sasha's family for a longer stay. They used to old seamstress room, and found clean clothes and sheets for the children. Niccolo looked at Sasha, sitting across the room and reading a book, with Gabi peering over her shoulder, reading it too. They got along quite well, although Gabi wasn't speaking much. Falco quietly walked back into the room and took his seat next to Niccolo, smiling up at him. Niccolo considered Falco to be a sweet boy, and didn't mind his company. Since Niccolo and Sasha were meant to be 'guarding' them, they had to watch them until midnight before going to sleep themselves. Niccolo took his pocket watch out, the time read 10:00. He was going crazy, it had been hours since he'd spoken to anyone, and he was extremely sleep-deprived. '𝘞𝘩𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘩𝘦𝘭𝘭 𝘥𝘪𝘥 𝘐 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘯 𝘢𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘥𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴?' he thought, and instantly remembering why. It was because of the tiny pout and big eyes Sasha gave him when she asked him to do it. He couldn't possibly have said no to that face.

A semi-loud noise was heard from where Sasha and Gabi were sat, and he saw Sasha leaned against the wall with her eyes closed, gentle breathes coming out as snores. She had fallen asleep and the book had slipped from her hand. Niccolo chuckled, and Gabi picked up the book and slowly tiptoed over to where Niccolo and Falco were sat. '𝘖𝘩 𝘨𝘰𝘥, 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘥𝘰𝘦𝘴 𝘴𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵?' he thought. She sat on the other side of Niccolo, and set her book aside, before whispering some words.
"How did you do it?" Gabi asked.
"What? Do what?" Niccolo replied. Gabi pointed at Sasha.
"Sasha, you love her, don't you? How did you fall in love with her? She's an Eldian," Gabi said in one breath. Niccolo appreciated her choice of words, she could have described Sasha as a 'devil' instead of an 'Eldian'.
"It's a long story. But to be honest, where love is concerned, where you come from doesn't really matter, as long as the feelings are genuine," Niccolo whispered back.
"I see. What is love like, Niccolo?"
"Well it's lots of things, and it can be different for everyone."
"My mum told me that love is when a man and a woman kiss each other, and sleep with each other. You've kissed each other, right? So, have you slept with her?" Niccolo blushed deeply, and muttered a small 'no' before placing the book back into Gabi's hands and letting her read again.
