Ally's POV
"Trish, no. I already told you I'm not going!" I yelled putting my books in my locker.
"Oh come on!" She whines. "It'll be fun! It's just a school dance! There isn't anything to worry about!"
I gave her a look. "Yeah, easy for you to say. Everyone likes you. I'm the nerdiest girl in school. If people see a dork like me going to a school dance, they'll for sure annoy the heck out of me the entire night."
"Um, have you forgotten the theme of this dance already?" She asks. "It's a masked dance! Everyone will be wearing masks, you won't be able to tell who anybody is unless they tell you! No one will know it's you!"
"Still..." I say, wishing this conversation was over.
"C'mon Ally, please? For me?" Trish pleads.
I turn to find her giving me puppy dog eyes. I roll my eyes and let out a dramatic sigh. "Alright, I'll go. But you owe me."
She squeals in delight. "YAY!! WE'RE GONNA HAVE SO MUCH FUN!"
Before I could respond, a locker door slams shut right behind me. I spin around, only to face Austin Moon, the jock of tenth grade. He turns to us, then gives me an evil smirk.
"Sup, Dorkson." He says.
I ignore him, then pull Trish down the hall to our next class. The last thing I want to do is be in a conversation with Austin. He has picked on me ever since middle school, and I'm sick of it. We were actually good friends in elementary school. In fact, I've known the guy since birth. But ever since he became popular, he left me in the dust.
But I wouldn't let some guy bring me down. I just pushed him aside and moved on. I didn't want to cause any trouble with him, or be in contact with him in any way. Thought it doesn't help being neighbors with the guy either. My life just gets easier and easier. Great.

Trish grabbed my arm and pulled me upstairs into her bedroom. "Hurry up!! We only have an hour to get ready! I'm not sure that'll be enough time!!" She hollers.
I shut her bedroom door behind me as I walk in. "You're overreacting. All we need to do is put on our dresses and masks and head off."
She turns to me and smiles. "We also need to fix our hair, put on makeup, grab our shoes, apply any last minute accessories-"
"Woah woah woah!" I say, stopping her. "I am not wearing makeup."
"Oh yes you are." She scolds. "I promise I won't put a lot on you. Maybe just some blush and concealer. Just to make you glow a bit more. Oh, and did you remember your contacts? I know you can't wear your glasses with your mask on."
I nod and take out a small box from the back of my pocket. "I have them."
"Good." Trish says unfolding her sparkly black dress. "Take them and you dress and go get changed in the bathroom."
I sigh, but follow her instructions. Trish dragged me all over the mall yesterday trying to find a dress for me to wear. I'm extremely picky when it comes to dressy outfits, so you could imagine we were there for awhile.
We had finally found one that wasn't all that bad actually. It was a strapless, bubble gum pink dress that ended at my knees. The entire top of the dress was filled with shimmery sequence, and the bottom poorer out. But only a little bit. I actually thought it was pretty neat. It was presentable. I just hope know one figures out it's me.
I got a matching pink mask to wear with it. I slipped on the dress and switched out my oval shaped glasses for my contacts. I took a good, long look in the mirror. I wanted to say I was beautiful. That I felt like Cinderella going to a ball. But I didn't. I wasn't beautiful. My stomach felt out of shape, and my face was pale. I just grabbed my mask and walked back out into the bedroom.
